I read all that and now I'm looking for a sharp object. As if COVID-era sports aren't bad enough inherently coming from an asterisks for dollars angle. We have to endure the worst, most subjective officiating in sports week after week. This week to appease the Alabama basketball fans(all 12 of them) on the week Disney and co. pretend Saban and Alabama aren't going to walk to another title. But yeah, the standings will react accordingly, clearly ESPN will react accordingly to this incredible Alabama win, what's the point then?
The season is already done as far as I'm concerned.
That very last possession isn’t being talked about enough. I mean, we weren’t gonna win at that point anyway, but WTH was that?!I put this on Barnes, but I'm also proud of how we played on the road, down two of our starters.
We never should have switched to zone. They hit 3 or 4 3 pointers in a row at the end after missing them all night.
Victor Bailey never should have been on the floor at the end.
It seems we have begun to recruit people with low basketball IQ. I mean, how do they take all 12 seconds to shoot (with multiple open shots) when they have 12 seconds to score 5 points at the end of the game? There isn't a lot of cutting. Not enough passing. Just doesn't seem like vintage Barnes
Plavsic to be any sort of consistent contributor. He's afraid to dive on the floor or take a hard foul by going into the basket. He's the biggest dude on the floor and has yet to act like it.
I have yet to feel like we are as good of a team as we have been ranked. Still, good PT for these kids and I think we would have taken Bama at home or with our starters tonight.
I dont think his defense is any better overall... Maybe some things that open up down low with lesser length but its beyond me... The kid has the shortest leash ive ever seen... Not good for a shooterPowell over Bailey all night long but Barnes must think Bailey plays better defense. He damn sure can't shoot.
I think he knows Bailey is who he is, but Powell can still grow into a good defender so he’s trying to teach him a lesson. That’s incredibly dumb, reps are going to help more than some psychological fun, plus we have games to win, but that’s the only way I can think that this answer makes any senseLol is Barnes losing his mind? Bailey gets blown by every single time.
I hope our softball Knoxville media will ask Rick some actual questions tonight. He needs to answer definitively why he chooses to continue to sit Powell in favor of Bailey and why BHH doesn’t play hardly at all in the 2nd half.
I don’t care who is sick or hurt, Powell should NOT be sitting behind Bailey and Powell DEFINITELY has no business sitting on the bench while Bailey is bricking a wide open three in the closing minutes. Unacceptable, Rick! When are you going to learn??
Prolly not tonight, but will tomorrow…wish you’d come around more when we win, seems a bit strangeYeah it was because it was an absolutely terrible decision.
You gonna do a postgame report tonight? I know it’s a loss and we don’t get those but I’ll be glad to talk about the game in there.
Wes asked him the question, and my rebuttal is “We think Bailey is a good defender? LOL”
I think our best offensive players were under a lot of duress on the defensive end. That's what Alabama does to you. They are hard to stay in front of and they keep attacking. I think it wore us down at the end of each half.Take back the last 2 minutes of each half and we easily win this game. Not sure what happened in each of those instances but hope it is corrected quickly.
At least Powell sees the floor. Can’t say the same about Corey Walker last year… still have NFI what that was aboutI’m convinced Barnes is willing to lose 3-4 extra games early on the hope that he “teaches a lesson” to BHH and Powell about effort so it pays off in March. Now, I’m not sure whether or not that’s a good strategy, because these early losses could be the difference in 1st or 5th in the SEC this year, but I’m convinced it’s his strategy.
He even said that he told Powell “we need you on the court right now” but he didn’t do it because he wasn’t locked in defensively. So, he purposely sat Powell knowing he was needed on the court to make a point…:cool, cool, cool.
You not see how many times Bailey missed shots and had missed assignments.... His miss assignments was bad... He ended up making a few defensive plays but so did Powell too in passing lanes as well which makes no sense...Did you not see how many times Powell got abused on defense in the first half. He has a hard time staying in front of his man, doesn't have the speed to recover and gets beat on screens. He would be a starter if his D was better....TWSS.
