The Official #19 Tennessee vs. Texas A&M Game Thread, 3:30 PM ET, CBS

Georgia has had top recruiting classes for thirty plus years. That’s due to the talent in Georgia, and their immediate recruiting area. For the last few years their recruiting has jumped up further because they are competing for, and winning national championships. They are not recruiting better because of “how they treat their third string offensive line”. It’s not hard to recruit at Georgia. It’s even easier when you’re winning everything.
Kirby out recruited his former employer and I think Tennessee should and could replicate what Kirby has done recently and is currently doing. That's all I'm suggesting. It's pretty easy to pull up the UGA roster and see where UGA players come from.

There's quite a few from Georgia, but Bowers is from NAPA California.

I also believe all coaches will be recruiting very differently in a year or two because NIL and the ease of transferring will change things in yet-unknown ways. To me, that's an opportunity for someone to figure out a new way to recruit and retain players among the many, many non-top 10 schools.

ie look at Duke on the rise. I definitely didn't see that coming, at all. I don't know what they did to go from bottom feeder to decent in just a couple of years. They've figured something out that other schools haven't yet.

Thank you for your thoughtful response.

In the end, I want to thank the Vols - I had an insufferable fellow Nay officer I served with in 86 who went on and on about her wonderful life at Texas A&M and how great Texas is as a state. I frequently reminded her Texas owed its existence to Tennessee. So Sherry, wherever you are, this one's for you!

This was a great, great win. And it will age very well and fans will look back at it as a breakthrough game.

Yes, Milton did not play well. Yes, we had too many dumb penalties. Yes, the officials hurt us.

But the running game was lights out. The defense was lights out. Our specials teams were lights out.

What a well coached game, coaching and the fans won that game. WOW!!!
I would question the well coached,at least offensively. Some very strange play calls, and at the end, piss poor clock management

Quickly resorting to insults is a sign of a low IQ. Is that an issue for you. I'm asking you a question, not accusing you of that.

Another reason might be that you're drunk or otherwise inebriated, Is THAT why you think insulting me is a good idea.

I'm just trying to figure out why a Staff Member would resort to that.
Calling you a miserable person isn't a personal insult it's just an honest assessment of your mood based on your posts. As a long time staff member I've seen this same pattern many times before and would be considered by many to be an expert in the LoM diagnosis.

21 was JH's first year! I'm not saying fire the coach pal, but with a QB playing as bad as Milton today, you run the ball and force a timeout. BTW, 07 was a SEC East championship.
Absolutely run the ball and force timeouts. Damn sure don’t roll him out, a pass that he can’t complete,or have him forget and run out of bounds

I agree on the play-calling. I suspect that, while they may be Heup's plays, it was Alex's mixing them up that was the secret sauce. Of, course, the menu is shorter this year, apparently.

Lordy, what a bad take. Texas A&M is the 4th most talented team in college football. They lost to Alabama by 6 last week. We beat them by 7, by absolutely running it down their throats and playing great defense. No one had ran on them like us this season. We ran for 232 yards vs what is probably the most stacked DL in college football. Their run D was #1 in the SEC and 7th in all of P5 coming into this game.

Every game isn't about making splash plays. Sometimes you have to win a dog fight.

Today we did several things Heupel had never done before. We won when he trailed at half time for the first time in his career and we won while scoring under 30. Those are the things you have do on occasion.

Our offensive line had too many penalties. The refs missed 3 massive, obvious pass interference penalties that likely lead to more points. The passing game dropped a wide open, right in the hands, touchdown, and Milton wasn't great, and they still won over a team stacked to the rafters with 5 star players.

Xs and Os beats Jimmys and Joes.

I like your respectful post, but I don't understand "Texas A&M is the 4th most talented team in college football. " I double checked the polls and a case could be made on the AP poll that they might be ranked in the AP #35 because there are 10 teams labeled "Others receiving votes"

A&M is 15th in the Power Index (Tennessee is 17th), but I didn't see them 4th or 4th most talented team and I assume you believe that for a reason.

On the Vol radio network they just said, the Vols ran more yards against Texas AM than anyone else so far. So that's impressive of the vols because they have played quite a few good ball teams already (just checked).

So why do you believe TAM is the fourth most talented team and do you remember who the teams were/are above them.

No I get it but you have to admit we were very lucky to win. A&Ms center was awful for one and Johnson made a lot of bad throws as well.
No i dont agree. Pressure forced those errors. We dominated them and honestly our defense is better. Now if this defense coupled with last years offense we probably win the Natty. Funny how things are a year late or a year short. But yet that is football. Look, Milton had his worst game, wrs worst game etc. We ran the ball and took it at gut check time. Thats a positive. You cant put every win or loss on the QB. There are 11 guys out there. Team game. 1 aspect failed and everyone else stepped it tf up. Lot of season left lets see where it goes

It's the coach's job to know what he's got and make decisions accordingly. Of course we can all rail on Milton, but
Heupel made some bad decisions today that will be forgotten because we won. That means kicking FGs and taking
points when you can instead of deciding that the QB whom you don't trust on 3rd down is going to make a play on 4th down.
Milton is too indecisive at times. Not sure what that is about. 1st and 2nd read not open, tuck it and run.

I’m guessing overall star rating of the roster. Just a guess.

Let's focus on you, not me. You're still who quickly felt it appropriate to call me miserable on a website that SAYS behavior like that isn't tolerated. Is it tolerated or not. Do you perhaps owe me an apology instead of an arm chair diagnosis?
