The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

I honestly haven't ever heard anyone complain about Duracoat. The advantage of using Krylon though is you can change it fairly easily to whatever environment you happen to be in. My AR-10 has a fall/winter scheme:

And that pic is even dated since I did the grip. But if I wanted something to go in summer, all I need is a can of the light and dark green.

Anyway, with Duracoat, you're pretty much stuck with whatever color you go with. But those that have it done are happy.

The ability to change it appeals to me as well. Right now I'm wanting to go olive drab. But my mind might change later. Appreciate the responses guys. I'll post some pics in about a week after I'm done.

not sure about Knoxville, but I only find it here at academy, and it's usually behind the customer service counter

Depends on what you want. Find your nearest Dunham's. They have 500 rounds of Thunderbolt's for about $25.00.

I'd grab as much as I could right then and there at that price.

I haven't seen a brick under $50 in over a year.

So many different reviews on WASR's. Seems like one of those you either love them or hate then deals.

For the money you can't beat them. Provided you can inspect it first. General thinking is the ones from Atlantic firearms are usually pretty good. Just make sure the front sight isn't canted and you should be good to go.

I bought one box the other day. They had about 15 boxes of 500. I think they were marked at $25.99. They sell out pretty quickly so you have to be in there at the right time and they'll limit you to four I believe but most of their stores get them in every week.

Got the frame in a nice olive drab color now. The difficult part is now letting it cure for a few days before doing anything else. It's like not scratching an itch..I don't like it.

do you have to bake it, to get it to set

I've seen where some have. I didn't simply because the krylon is supposed to bond with plastic when allowed to cure. So.. We'll see.

Going to wait another day or two and then stipple some of the grip. Looks pretty good so far though. Paint dried really well.

Smart going with the clear coat. I've never tried that, perhaps that's why my rifles always end up looking like ****. Either that, or I just beat the **** out of them too much.

Nah.... They're made to be used. At least my synthetic stocks are. My wood stocks in a bit more careful with.

I didn't do the curing thing and it set pretty well in about a day with all the coats. I used the Krylon camo paints though.

And you know this thread is worthless without pics...
