well just saw another pistol, that made my want list

a 1939 Walther PPK .32

It's got a lot of holster wear, and has been shot a lot, but it's a great unique gun..

Gotta stay out of Cabelas

only 1 mag, and no box or holster

like I said it's blueing is pretty worn on the slide, I was hoping to walk in yesterday and see a 10% off sign on used guns

I'll keep checking on it

Yeah, AD's. One involved me. Holstering up while moving at the end of a chase / arrest with a double armed robbery suspect. Very chaotic takedown, and me on point. Outer retention strap of an Uncle Mike's duty holster gets caught in the trigger guard on the way in the holster, and bang.

Forensics proved the gun was fully seated when it discharged, so no way I was on the trigger, which I already knew. Ruined a good holster and a pair of pants.

Anything with a positive safety, if engaged, would have prevented that. The Glock SAT is a joke. Love the way they shoot. But any SIG / Smith / H&K / Colt / Taurus / you name it with an actual safety would have been a completely different outcome.

Love the way they shoot. When they're supposed to.

Don't see how the gun went off without pulling the trigger.

Alright guys. Need your help.

I've finally convinced my wife that when we buy a house we both need to be proficient with a handgun.

I've been shooting once with a glock (buddy who helps train Leo took me out) but I only shot 100 rounds.

I want a conceal carry permit but I know I need the beginner lessons first.

Where in East TN should I go for beginners classes for my wife and I? How many should we take before buying a handgun?

You probably only need 1 class, but you should shoot as frequently as you can so you and your wife are completely comfortable

I know of these places that offer courses around Knoxville.

Gunnys Indoor Shooting Range

I can't personally speak to which might be better than another though.

What gun brand and caliber would be recommended by you knowledgeable gun owners for a first time gun buyer? Purpose would be for self and family protection. TIA

House only or CCW and house?

Price range? (most important number we need)

At least at one point in time, there used to be a women's shooting group out of Bass Pro that would do free classes (spouses could go as well). Might be worth a call up there.

As far as classes go, Frontier's were fine. I haven't heard anything bad about the other places, at least as far as classes go.

I carry and shoot primarily 9mm, but that's such a wide ranging question I'll let some of the more experienced people handle it. The best answer I can give is try as much as you can as many times as you can, then get and carry what you are comfortable with. .380, 9mm, .40, .45, hell even a .22 if that's all you can manage.

Get something that is as second nature as carrying your wallet and cell phone to you.

Looking to buy two new pistols. The xd mod 2 compact 9mm and the ruger sr45. Anybody have one of them and have any reviews. Thanks

The most common suggestions will be glock and smith and Wesson, particularly the smith M&P.
I would also suggest CZ pistols, as well as the Springfield armory XD.

Look at everything, with your budget you should be able to get a very nice handgun.

Take an NRA course when you buy your pistol and learn how your new weapon functions, as well as the basics of gun handling. Good luck with your decision.

Played with both, had an SR45 (and an SR9C for a while). I'll defer on the Springfield to someone who owns one. I liked it, though.

The SR45 was a typical Ruger to me. Good, maybe not great, in almost every way, but wasn't picky and was super reliable.
