The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Yes sir, they are 10-8 performance VZ grips with the scallop to help in mag release.

Thought that looked like the 10-8.

Am looking at trying the new Magpul 1911 grips myself. Has the same relief and of course the Magpul quality.

I've got a set of Stag grips for my Colt MK IV, looks good, but I usually keep at set of black Pachmayr on it

Only found one Pachmayr that I've ever liked and it was on the Hi Power. I prefer the Ergo XT grips myself.

Went out and shot the STG-44 it's a blast to shoot.
The thing that took me by surprise is the heft of this for a .22. It's a heavy rifle, of course no recoil. Very high quality build.

Shot the Colt a little, put 4 mags through it. Ran like a champ.
Didn't really shoot for groups, just a basic function test. Really happy with both firearms overall.

That's great

Just ordered a Rossi M92 in 44 Mag off of Bud's Gun Shop.

slickguns can be decent for spotting deals every once in a while.

I've had great experiences with Lanbo's Armory and Kentucky Gun Co. as far as online retailers go.

The only place I haven't had a good experience with was GrabAGun.

My first painted rifle. Armalite AR10T upper on a carbine lower with B5 stock and Ergo grip. Wasn't sure how the paint would take to the grip, so I covered that before painting.

I now have an AK I need to try out. Guy at work needed Christmas money, so...I get to explain to the wife why we needed this.

For some reason the cheap, clanky POS's just appeal to me. I was cracking up reading some of the stories people have about cleaning them.

Wasn't aware an AK needed to be cleaned.

At least that's what all the owners claim lol

People will get on asking elaborate questions about what type of gun oil or grease they should be using. They'll ask about some exotic new syntheic or some super engineered grease...

People will answer with things like suntan lotion, Olive oil, piss, tears of capitalist pigs, sand...and for some reason I laugh almost every time.

That, and somebody always says "In Russia, rifle lube you!". Still, I laugh.

Oh, I get teased about my AR ownership all the time by the commie rifle lovers. But I have yet to buy or build an AR yet that doesn't run like a scalded dog when running the same thing I've been running the past 15 years.

Castrol 5-50 synthetic. Mobil 1 synthetic apparently works as well, but since I'm still nursing the same quart from a few years ago so haven't needed to buy a new one yet.

I've heard of lots of people using heavier wt Mobil 1 on their guns. To some extent the logic sounds good, it's made to lube parts under shear and heat, right? I've heard some people counter that there are additives (usually detergent agents) found in motor oils that aren't best applied to firearms but an awful lot of people seem happy. Honestly I think the biggest part is that you keep your weapons property lubed with something.

I've been wanting to give Froglube a try.

I've heard a lot of people using non-detergent motor oil. I'll probably give it a shot when I run out of the oil I've got now.

Its funny you mention the AK vs AR thing. Its always interested me the way some stay in their own little worlds based on platform and/or brands when it comes to guns. (I'm not really directing this at any one person, just some gun people in general).

AR, AK, I don't care. I just like guns. AK to AR, old Marlin levers, rusty Smith chief's specials, Taurus and Armscor to Kimber, Colt, etc.

There are positives to almost all of them (provided the price is right). I've had fun shooting an uncle's Kimber and my buddy's overbuilt AR, but just as much fun shooting paper plates with a Hi-point and a questionable .25.

I'm new to the sport but agree - I like all kinds of stuff from all kinds of mfgs.
