Will do
Is the Aimpoint also a double AA battery I like the idea of using them vs. a special lithium

No, the AP uses a lithium, but considering they're rated for something like 3 years of continuous use (and that's the PRO, I think some are rated higher still) battery type is much less of a concern.

They do make a AA version of the Pro, the Comp M4s. Little pricey though.

I like the Aimpoint line as well and the battery life is insane as stated. One of those 3 volt lithiums will last forever it seems. Just hate the mount that comes with it.

They make a PRO for AA? I had not heard of that, interesting. Still, if I went AP I think I'd lean towards the 3v lith's.

Ah, I had only mentioned the PRO to keep it in the base Eotech price range. I'm guessing you're referring to the M4's? Those use AA but I don't think I've seen them for much under $700.

Yeah, I mentioned it in the original post.

Price wise and ease of maintenance, the EOTech 512 and PRO are about equal. Actually the PRO might come out ahead when your factor in battery costs over the long term.

What is the name of the new ar trigger that fires once when pulled and once when released? It also comes with a 3 position selector switch...

That's called doubling and can occur from a worn disconnector or a weak return spring. Beside the fact that it is against the law to have on an AR, it's not safe.

It's something new. Just saw it the other day, but I can't remember the name of it.

Seemed kind of gimmicky to me though.

No it is not against the law

I'd love to see what is new and legal if you find out what it is called. Doubling certainly isn't new. You can make it happen by filing down the disconnector or weakening the return spring. It has existed since the invention of the 1911.

I can however see that an argument could be made that only one shot is fired with the pull of a trigger. Regardless, one would have to be a fool to use one.

Not as fancy as you guys but I picked up my son a new savage model 64-22 rifle. I have already installed a bi-pod for it and picking up a 3x9x40 scope for it this weekend. I'll post up pictures after I get it together.

It's one of his Christmas gifts.

My boys are too young.

How old is yours?

That doesn't fire on pull and release. The 3MR forces the trigger forward for quicker follow up shot but it takes a second pull of a trigger.... similar to a bump fire but definitely not..

Make sure he keeps that thing. I still have my first pistol I bought (Ruger p85) but I'd give anything to have the Mitchell .22 my Dad let me buy when I was 12. Loved that thing.

Now the REAL present is somebody needs to give you some .22 ammo. I've been mostly hoarding what little I've got but I haven't seen a box of .22LR on a shelf in a looooong time. I also simply can't bring myself to pay the pirates (most private sales these days) 2-3x what I paid for the last time I did buy some.
