The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Yeah, I've handled the HK at the gun shop, very nice. Actually, very similar to the ppq.

Aftermarket support is the biggest thing I'd look at. The VP9 is pretty much the new rage and you can find all manner of holsters and gear at this point. The PPQ never really caught on except with a fairly small, but rabid, fan base.

I don't think you could go wrong with either personally.

Seems like German pistols are all the rage. What do you think of the Ruger double action 357 revolver?

I don't mess with no wheel guns... :)

Honestly, I never saw the attraction with revolvers this day in age. To me, almost all revolvers are overpriced, archaic designs that are limited in modern shooting situations. Effective sure with the proper training, just not my personal cup of tea.

Closest I ever came to buying a revolver was a Ruger SP101 in .32 H&R Mag as a CCW piece. Skipped over it and bought a Kahr instead. And other than the "would likely buy a S&W Model 29, Colt SAA and a Ruger SP101 in .357 if I won the Megamillions lotto" I don't see myself buying a revolver at any point.

Some folks love them and swear by them. I'm just not one of them.

Anybody have or ever have a Glock 42? I have plans for purchasing one in the next couple of days. I have heard they are amazing concealed carry weapons.

As long as it's a new build and not second hand you should be good to go. Once Glock fixed the problems with the initial production models, those that have them have been extremely happy with them.

Personally, I wouldn't get a .380. You can get guns just a little bit bigger in 9mm these days. I'd recommend the Kahr single stack 9's, the Walther PPS, or the Smith & Wesson Shield 9mm -- with highest recommendation going to the Shield.

My 9 year old daughter is wanting a .22 cricket. We saw a pink one at the gun store last week and she's begging for it. She's had several air soft and BB guns and done well with them. I think she's ready for one, she's very outdoor oriented. Makes me proud!

I'm a fan. Got to play with one back in the summer and it shot well and fit nicely in my hand.

But yeah, what he said. It's a .380

I hear the Shield was a nice weapon as well. I decided on the Glock 42 over the Keltec PF9, simply because of the reliability and Glocks commitment of standing by their product even well after the warranty is expired. Glock 42.. Keltec PF9... as you can tell I want a very low profile weapon and the minuet difference between a .380 and 9mm isn't enough to deter me. Remington Ultimate Defense hollow point rounds pack more than enough punch, IMO.

There's actually a pretty significant drop in FPS and ME between the 9mm and .380. And honestly, a Kahr is about the slimmest profile you can get. The PM9 series would likely fit your bill pretty well.

My wife will never learn how to shoot a semi automatic. I have to get her a double action revolver and just say "pull the trigger hunny."

It's a point and click interface, that's for certain.

I'd buy a Ruger or S&W these days personally. Taurus is too hit and miss for my tastes. I'd steer clear of Charter and other "off brands."

Ruger SP101 might be your best choice with some .38 SPL Golden Sabers.

That's the one I'm thinking.

Got this today for my brother for Christmas. Seems like a pretty good gun. I bought it used for $275.
