The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Cmp had a ton a few years ago, I bought 5 winchesters, 2 inlands, 1 national postal meter and another quality hardware. Alas, I sold them all to fund my crazy horse m14 from smith enterprises. The inlands were going for $375 at the time, this was around 07 I wanna say.

Just you wait, I'm on a cowboy gun kick now lol

I was overseas during that time, but remember hearing something about it.

Those were the overseas returns, right? Kind of like the dastardly imports the Koreans can't bring in?

Yeah, I think so. They even had the bavarian modified versions. Interesting to say the least.

U.S. Carbines during the American Occupation

Quite unfortunate that we will probably never see those Garands stuck in Korea again, especially maddening considering they were built using tax dollars.

I can partially see the butthurt from the .gov. For the "official" reasons of gangs getting hold of them, no, effing stupid.

For the fact that the Korean Government was trying to resell weapons back to us that we'd given them freely, yeah, they had a point.

But unlikely we'll ever see the Garands or Carbines coming back.

Speaking of the CMP:

Rogers proposes CMP take control of old Army pistols | Local News - WVTM

An east Alabama congressman has a plan to save taxpayers money when it comes to storing vintage firearms for the Army. The plan involves moving the weapons to the Civilian Marksmanship Program, which includes its facility in Anniston.

The M1911A1 pistol was once the standard sidearm for U.S. armed forces. Rogers says a little over 8,000 of the 100,000 pistols were sold to law enforcement and transferred to foreign countries for a small price. The rest are in storage.

I hope it makes it through.

Black powder?

I'm sorry, I didn't see it.

Like a giddy kid on Christmas lol

I saw a few of the 1911s we'd given Iraq back in the 80s when I was doing the Customs mission over in that area. Some GIs had found them and were trying to bring them back. They weren't allowed of course, but they weren't destroyed like the AKs and whatnot that I know of.

Tempting, that's all I'll say.

I'd have to imagine they'd be very affordable through the CMP. Perhaps they'll use a grading system like they do with the Garand. Prices will be interesting, demand will be VERY high. Get em while you can.
Can't wait to see what happens.

I have a Mark IV series 80. What do you think that does to the value of the pistol?

Not exactly sure, I'm not doing it really to add value

Found the gun used for a good price, and considering it's about 30 years old thought the reliability package from Novaks would be a good idea, and I like there sights so had them added to

My Mark IV is still in box and never been shot. What did you pay for yours if I might ask?
