The Official #6 Tennessee @ #15 Oklahoma Game Thread, 7:30 PM ET, ABC

I thought we played very conservative tonight. Their defense was very good and their backup QB played a great game. I just don't feel like we played to make a statement offensively, probably by design but a W is a win. With Heard out also, it probably dictated what we could do.
The Vols made a statement. TN can win with defense, offense and the kicking game on the road in the conference.

Now that's how you choke a team out. The defense played lights out. Smart of CJH to throttle back. No way they could score enough on us if we don't turn it over
This was the calculation. No way they were going to beat us without us helping them. Plus having both starting tackles out for most of the game made everything a challenge.

If we call plays that conservative against Bama/uga, we will get boat raced, no matter how good our defense is.

I get it that we won, but it's discouraging as a fan to see them get very conservative in a big time game. It doesn't bode well for the future games.

Nothing like looking at things in a vacuum, right? The OL was banged up and the defense was suffocating them - Josh made the decision to bleed the clock and ride the defense home, which was the right call tonight. If Carter doesn't commit the silly face mask penalty on 4th down, the game is over at 22-9.

They won in about as hostile an environment as you'll play in CFB against a really good defense. Nico, in his 4th start and first real road test, was poised and in control of the offense all night, and the defense was lights out until garbage time. This was a fantastic team win, and it is sure as hell not something that won't bode well as we move forward.

If anyone complains about winning at Oklahoma needs to either down 3 shots back to back to back and pass out or remember 1st win since 2006 since beating a top 15 team on the road!! What a great win for the Vols and Heupel to have that win and give Oklahoma their very first SEC loss. GBO!!

The line was 6.5. We won by TEN.

WTF is wrong with you people?
Exactly OP! Too many in here with completely unrealistic expectations. We just went into Norman, OK and knocked off a team that has a .921 winning % at home since 1999. Our RS Freshman QB handled business against a really good OU defense! Our defense walked into a hostile stadium and completely took the crowd out of the game! CJH called exactly what he needed to in order to get back to Knoxville with a W.
