This was one of those games were Barnes failure to recruit another true PG has really hurt us. It is worrisome that next year's starting PG probably isn't currently on the roster. Unless Boswell takes some major strides

Just back from the game. Vol fans turned out in very good numbers. Vol defense was a let down. Candy with too many drives to the basket, too many open 3s and their bigs bullied us down low. Think we were out rebounded as well. Turning point was likely when Z went to the bench with 2 fouls with 7 minutes left in the half. I think Candy went on a 10-0 run or thereabouts. Even with Z in the game offense struggled to get in any real flow. Give Candy credit...they largely outplayed us despite the late run and deserved to win.

Maybe, maybe not. You can't really say that until it doesn't happen. Seeding, matchup, upsets, lots can happen. There was likely nobody who thought the 09-10 team was an EE team until they got there.

You have a short memory. I agree he is not as complete a player as Knecht was, but Dalton had a few disappearing acts in the middle of last year followed by a boatload of bad “reviews” on volnation. Lanier is way better than I ever thought we’d see this year in place of him. He’s not perfect, but I’m glad he’s a Vol. We’ll be fine.

This is a stretch. They’re not a very good team. Winning on the road is hard but this is one of the worst teams in conference play. If you can’t win there, you aren’t going to win many road games period this year.

I think that’s a big learning lesson. This team isn’t the same without ZZ. May just have to risk it and let him play it out next time.

Tn can be good but not when you only have 1 shooter or scorer. Tn does not have that one or 2 players that can go get you points.

Did you even watch the game? Lanier was 2 below his league leading 19 average and THREE additional players had 16 each. We lost, but that’s hardly dependence on “only” 1 shooter. No need to dissolve in craziness and get frantic with a road loss to a good team.

Not trying to be a hater, but I’ve thought we have been overrated all year. IMO we are a top 20 (teens) ranked team. Not a top 10 team.

Time will tell, but I just haven’t seen what I would consider to be a final four or elite eight level team yet.

Rankings in January really don’t mean anything. It’s March that’s important & thats where Barnes struggles. Seems like his teams rarely, if ever, get better late in the season. The teams that succeed do.

Not fair to compare Lanier to Knecht. DK is about 3 inches taller, & should have been a lottery pick. CL may get drafted but he’s not close to lottery level, no insult intended.

The team lost the game in the first 10 minutes of the second half when VU took the lead to 16. The “Florida” look seemed to appear for a few minutes. Good thing was the team corrected it before the lead grew anymore.
