Too many things to list how this game went throughout. Bama and UK next week? Could get real ugly or be one hell of a week for the Vols.

Santi shot 80% from FT. Awaka shot 16.7%.

It’s easy to forget the rest of the game when a loss happens on the last shot, but there were a lot of moments where the team made mistakes that lost this game.

To be honest, I didn’t read that comment. I will get roasted for saying this, but I say it during every game thread in both football and basketball, but here I go.

The refs did NOT cause TN to lose. TN lost this game. They played themselves back into the game. But once again, the following occurred:

1. Can’t extend a lead to close the game. Up two possessions and we don’t know what to do on the next possession. ZZ airballs a three and then Mizz scores. No go to guy
2. Foul shots - not sure of the % but missed critical ones tonight. Awaka 1-6.
3. Committing stupid fouls - why foul on the perimeter or back court .
4. ZZ- see #3. Idk what he was thinking.
5. Vescovi- again w a missed foul shot. Jus t make them both.
6. Awaka- lane violation or foul? That was plain stupid. No other way to call it. We would’ve been up three if Vescovi makes it.
7. Last possession - NO Defense.


I just don’t understand the lack of IQ. I get that it is in the moment but when was the last time you saw the recent events occur like then tonight in one game? What about two consecutive games. This team is mentally and physically exhausted. I don’t have the answer, but I don’t get paid $7million a yr to correct it. Loss #3 on Wed as Bama can and will attack our guards and their bigs are athletic.

I said last nt we would be a three seed at worse. Idk now.

Two games in a row Awaka has showed terrible IQ. Vandy game he had 2 possessions late in the game where he tried to create his own shot which is clearly not his game. And then obviously today with the lane violation. But ZZ tonight was indefensible. I’m the biggest ZZ fan and protecter on here but his ridiculous foul started it. There’s no excuse for it.

We did not make a bucket in the last 2:30 minutes of the game!!!! Only 4 made free throws. You don't win many games scoring 0 buckets in the last 2:30 of a game.

That's partially on ZZ for gambling. He stays in and it might be a different story. He was able to get in the lane and draw contact

Barnes shares some responsibility. Why would you not guard the inbound passer to make the pass more difficult. They had no timeouts left. Maybe you force them into a 5 second call or a bad pass out of desperation.

Exactly, they used every inch of open court we gave them.

It actually made a huge difference. Gave them a free inbounds instead of having to rebound pass and shoot within 4.2 seconds. No chance they get the look they got. Again it helps to know the game

Your right, it may have been just enough time to run the clock out if they rebounded the ball, or maybe they make the shot anyway. It's in the books now.

ZZ makes some mistakes by being a little over zealous at times but that's also what makes him so good. I wouldn't trade him for any other player. Kid has the heart of a lion.

Nobody is questioning his heart, but your pg has to be someone who is thinking the game. ZZ was great in the role he was in last year, but the starting pg has to be someone that is in control and a coach on the court.

I knew that was coming when there was 4.9 left. Another half second and the clock would have run out before he got the shot off. Still a good game. You've got to hand it to Missouri. A lot of teams would have quit after blowing that 16 point lead. Time to regroup and beat the brakes off of bama.

if Barnes learned anything tonight it’s that he has to find more minutes for Mashack. While he’s not a scorer he does all the intangibles and just makes plays. his hustle and defense was key to our comeback. also Barnes made very few subs in the 2nd half. not to make an excuse for Santi but he had to be exhausted.

Barnes said Wes nt that he told the team NOT to allow a three. They didn’t listen. He told them not to reach in or commit fouls on the perimeter. They didn’t listen and Mizz stoped our run w foul shots. ZZ fouled out being too aggressive 85 feet from the goal. He didn’t listen. Play defense and stay in front of shooter on half court shot -Don’t foul! Nobody near the guy- players did NOT listen. Barnes did his part on the above. He initially got out coached but finally adjusted and went small ball and kept Awaka in game and benched ON. He will earn his paycheck as idk if Barnes will turn this around.

He’s the 7th leading scorer amongst the top 20 ranked incoming FR. He’s held his own.
