ZZ makes some mistakes by being a little over zealous at times but that's also what makes him so good. I wouldn't trade him for any other player. Kid has the heart of a lion.

I agree but as we approach March him and Vescovi have to guard smart. Them last 2 fouls Ziegler committed were unnecessary 70 and 45 ft away and reaching when you just need to be playing solid D. We can’t have our guards in foul trouble and fouling out. Especially when 3 of them were bad fouls. Our guards have to play smarter, the entire team for that matter. But we need our 3 main guards available down the stretch. GBO

Missouri had an 89% chance of winning at the 16:02 minute mark in the second half.
Tennessee had a 92% chance of winning at.07 seconds mark

Tennessee had an 87% chance of winning at .07 second mark against Vanderbilt

For some reason though the neutral court Cut nets down last year in SECt and Atlantis this year. Just ride this out.

You don’t get a KC that often, but I get your point. KC took this team on his back last year and found away to seal some of these games.

Two games in a row Awaka has showed terrible IQ. Vandy game he had 2 possessions late in the game where he tried to create his own shot which is clearly not his game. And then obviously today with the lane violation. But ZZ tonight was indefensible. I’m the biggest ZZ fan and protecter on here but his ridiculous foul started it. There’s no excuse for it.

Never comment on someone’s IQ while using the incorrect verb tense.

I agree. I was at the Vandy game and saw Awaka brick the layup. Then he fouled the guy on the other end of the court. It was a good call as I was sitting rt behind where the foul occurred. Tonight, Idk wha the was thinking. Barnes shouldn’t have to tell his guys “no lane violations.” There only so much a coach can say or do @ that point.

I trashed Barnes earlier out of frustration but I think he's good coach but has definitely lost a step. I hope he steps aside while the program is still strong. I'm ready for someone to put a premium on scoring points and not just playing great defense.

I’m starting to think along these lines too. But emotions are raw right now, and rightfully so. We’ve got some pulse left to this team and some games that we could redeem ourselves in. I’m just not sure this team has that edge to them to embrace this adversity. Hopefully, I’m wrong and can enjoy eating crow come March.

We have just lost to 3 unranked teams and we are supposed to be a top ranked team. We will carry a major a$$ whipping Wednesday and IF we make it to the tourney we will be one and done. No consistency. Coaching lacks. IMO there is not one player on the floor that is in control. ZZ has had some good games but overall he is inconsistent. Shooting is so off the mark right now and when he dribbles into the paint it’s a toss up most of the time. Vescovi is a flopper. He would be a good football player. Yeah he makes some shots but so inconsistent. What a complete waste of a Saturday evening. Didn’t we win a Natty in Cornhole last year???? Bring that on.

Barnes shares some responsibility. Why would you not guard the inbound passer to make the pass more difficult. They had no timeouts left. Maybe you force them into a 5 second call or a bad pass out of desperation.

Because we were only up 2, it's all time and score. If you guard the inbound passer, you make it easier (in theory) for them to find an open man breaking to the basket where they either tie it up or light us up from the corner for the win (aka Vanderbilt). Sometimes you get beat like this. SIGH.

Agree. Barnes said it again the the told both of them to NOT foul. He’s told the team this the Zona loss. He reminded ZZ again with four fouls. No excuse to lose the last two games. None.

We all hurt. Basketball Vols got off to a good start. The loss at home to Kentucky and now two weeks in a row reflect a need for a change. Having JJJ and Phillips out does not help. Crazy possession turnovers, missed free throws, fouling out are all signs we are playing tight. Other teams have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Coach Barnes gets a lot of credit when we win and he should get credit when we lose. Good move to go small. Just not good moves at the end of the last two games. So, sleep on it, go back to work, and prove to everyone you deserve to be in the tourney. GBO VFL.

Bright spot for me was second half fight-back. We fought back from 17 down and had these guys beat. They made a freakish Hail Mary to win.

Moving forward, Mashack, Aidoo, Key, and Awaka should each play 30 minutes every game.
