The Official #6 Tennessee vs. Missouri Game Thread, 6:00 PM ET, SEC Network

No reason to fight each other over this, it really isn’t Barnes fault, Santi’s fault, awaka’s fault. We are honestly just cursed. I’m really not a superstitious person but how the hell else can one explain what has happened the last two games

Actually, you may be on to something... could that Chinese balloon have been scouting us? It did fly over East Tennessee. Most people thought they were looking at Oak RIdge, but we Vol fans now know it was TBA. They probably have x-ray cameras watching and listening to us practice inside

Santi shot 80% from FT. Awaka shot 16.7%.

It’s easy to forget the rest of the game when a loss happens on the last shot, but there were a lot of moments where the team made mistakes that lost this game.

It’s the events that occur leading up to the final play of the game that caused the outcome: committing stupid fouls, poor offensive possession (air ball) with chance to extend the lead, lane violation, missed foul shots.

Bright spot for me was second half fight-back. We fought back from 17 down and had these guys beat. They made a freakish Hail Mary to win.

Moving forward, Mashack, Aidoo, Key, and Awaka should each play 30 minutes every game.
There is no bright spot. We are in a downward spiral and staring down a 5 game losing streak.

Vescovi missed the second shot too so the lane violation made no difference.
I disagree. Without the lane violation, the second free throw I agree is missed, so the clock starts with the miss, hell we may have gotten the rebound. Even if Mizzou rebounds, I doubt they can get in position for that last shot. Believe the time expires. Therefore the lane violation was a huge factor. IMO.

I freaking hate losing, but that was an exciting game. It would have been much better if we won--but except the last mistakes, the lineup of Vescovi, Z, Awaka, Mashack and Key was amazing tonight.

I needed to laugh so thank you. It sure does feel like teams are playing their best ball against us. Idk %s but Mizz made 10 threes by the 15 min mark of second half.

This makes sense. The curse is real! I’ve said it for years.

Yep, Barnes should’ve went back to ON and Awaka inside when up 6. Mizzou was in bonus, try to get some good inside shots or draw fouls.

This is easily the most disappointing two consecutive games I remember. A team might lose on a three point buzzer beater once every ten years, but back-to-back games? What are the odds. Hopefully they get it together to beat Alabama but I just don't see it happening. This team could lose 5 (or 6) of the next 6.

Very disappointed in Vesco rn
For real. Just can not call upon your team leader two straight games to seal it and not do it.
Not sure what’s up with him. Merely a week ago, I would have loved to have him at the line in the closing seconds to seal the deal. Now, though…sheesh, I’m not sure I would even have him in the game in that situation.

I don't think any of us really understand what it's like to stand on the FT line in silence with that kind of pressure on you. He's not going to make them all. He's won us far more games in the last five years than he has lost us. He may still have a few critical wins left in him.

I didn’t think he shot the second one? I heard the announcer and three down my cell like a two yr old and broke my reading glasses. 😣
I saw his shot, he missed but he could have been distracted by the whistle so maybe he makes it if there was no lane violation. I'm just flabbergasted that no one was guarding the in bounds pass and the defense on the ball was non existent. They don't get that shot off in time if thats done.

I agree. I was at the Vandy game and saw Awaka brick the layup. Then he fouled the guy on the other end of the court. It was a good call as I was sitting rt behind where the foul occurred. Tonight, Idk wha the was thinking. Barnes shouldn’t have to tell his guys “no lane violations.” There only so much a coach can say or do @ that point.
I agree. The only fair criticism of Barnes tonight imo was not going smaller earlier. There was no reason to be going big. Hopefully he continues with the small lineup on Wednesday
