The Official #6 Tennessee vs. Missouri Game Thread, 6:00 PM ET, SEC Network

Yep, Barnes should’ve went back to ON and Awaka inside when up 6. Mizzou was in bonus, try to get some good inside shots or draw fouls.

ON is struggling. Barnes commented that some of the players better pick up the consistency. He was referring to ON. He keot Mashack in to help with ball handling. But Mashack didn’t force the Mizz’ guard to waste clock on last shot. ZZ could’ve applied pressure but…. This one stings

I don't think any of us really understand what it's like to stand on the FT line in silence with that kind of pressure on you. He's not going to make them all. He's won us far more games in the last five years than he has lost us. He may still have a few critical wins left in him.
I played in college... Albeit community college, but I do understand. He's a senior and asking for one FT should not be a huge thing. at home too.

It really isn't possible to coach more incompetently than Barnes did on that final play. How the f--k do you tell them to foul on the previous Mizzou possession and then not tell them to on that one? Just pathetic.
You foul up 3 because the FTs are only worth 2 points. You don’t foul up 2 because they’re more likely to sink 2 FTs than a desperation heave. Did you misread the score???

I agree. The only fair criticism of Barnes tonight imo was not going smaller earlier. There was no reason to be going big. Hopefully he continues with the small lineup on Wednesday

I think he will. He has given ON every opportunity. He’s too inconsistent and slow on defense.

ZZ, Vescovi, Key, and Awaka need to en on the floor. Idk what happened to Phillips. We will have to play ON or Mashack if Phillips and JJJ injured. Awaka is a beast of rebounder but has to make foul shots and finish down low. Can’t brick layups. And he must THINK and nt make bonehead plays.

I disagree. Without the lane violation, the second free throw I agree is missed, so the clock starts with the miss, hell we may have gotten the rebound. Even if Mizzou rebounds, I doubt they can get in position for that last shot. Believe the time expires. Therefore the lane violation was a huge factor. IMO.
Yea, your correct, we would have had a better chance of killing the clock on the rebound than we did on an unguarded in pass and zero on ball defense. Terrible.

Not even close. Most Tennessee fans can see he’s done his best for us and given his all. Been a couple of disappointing games but don’t let that be the reason you trash a player who loves Tennessee.
Don’t lecture me with that sanctimonious BS, when the lights are brightest, he chokes. I hope he redeems himself in a major way, but this goes back to last year against Michigan… I like Vescovi, I just don’t ever care to see him at the line to seal the game again.

Really good point. I played college ball and was placed in that situation and missed the shot too. No one feels worse then he does.

I don’t even mind ON being out there (al thought you’re spot on) if he’s the 5. But him and another big against bama is just asking for a blow out

Can you read? I already explained this. If we had fouled they would have had two free throws, so the worst that could have happened was them making both and the game going to overtime. You do understand that going to overtime and having a chance to win is better than losing on a three?

You like Vescovi but yet, here you are calling him trash? Lol

They were playing as a team in the 1st half of the season and hitting on all cylinders. Now they are out of sync and the teams they are playing are on fire from 3-point range. I don't know how they can get back in sync but they better do it fast. It's there, they just need to find it again. Started when they retired the jersey against UK.

Great assessment. He's limited ONs and Plasvic's minutes lately. Mashack and Awaka have gotten an increase in minutes. That tells me that Barnes is trying to make adjustments and not just sitting on his hands on the sideline. IF we find the right lineup as a result of this stretch of pain, we could be in for a special March.
