The Official Boston Red Sox Thread

I think Eck had it right, I don't think I've ever seen Pap have a blown save to this degree.

Pap needs to realize he doesn't throw hard enough to miss in the middle of the plate.

94-96 is plenty fast enough, he needs to find his splitter again...

The splitter changes eye levels on hitters.

94-96 down the pipe gets hammered in the bigs. Now if he finds the split again that 94-96 turns into just misses when guys guard against the split. Right now they're just sitting on his fastball and he's trying to challenge them. Not a good combo.

Your right, he has an excellent fastball but like you said, when guys are sitting dead red on the fastball nights like tonight are going to happen.

Nothing wrong with his speed. He has a problem with throwing the same thing over and over again -- Knuckleballers don't apply. Hitters are going to figure out the pattern, it doesn't take a genius. Pap is not Zumaya or Feliz and he cannot over power batters. There is no reason to throw the same thing over and over -- ALDS v Angels.

New Yawk now knows how it feels to have a retarded bullpen and outfielders.

Ortiz is really starting to swing the bat...too bad our bullpen and rotation are struggling...I'm actually encouraged by what has happened so far this year...we have played terrible...Jacoby has been out, Cameron has been out, rotation has sucked, bullpen has sucked, Ortiz was playing awful and were still in shouting distance.

Gotta keep the faith.

Red Sox have won 3 in a row & 6 out of their last 10. We've had two great outings in a row with Buchholz & Lester, the offense has been hot lately. We still dont have Ells or Cameron & Scutaro has missed the past two games with an elbow injury. With the win & Yankees lose tonight the Sox are 4 back from the WC.

As bad as they have played and as well as NY has played for it to be this close is good news for Boston.

This Lackey conundrum is really starting to irritate me.

The good news is Jacoby is back.

A lot of baseball left, the whole staff has been bad except for Lester...but there is plenty of time to turn it around.

Still an excellent outing by him, the Sox need him to step up right now...consistency is the name of the game.

Sox start a 3 game series against the Rays tonight, going back to '07 were 4-15 against them at Tropicana Field. I would love to see this team keep playing good baseball like they did last week, they went 5-2 against the Yankees, Twins, & Phillies. Also Mike Cameron is suppose to be back in the lineup tomorrow. Starting the day were 2.5 back of the Yanks in the WC.

This team is rolling right now...just shows how valuable Ortiz is, of course you can't expect a guy to hit like he has but when is a viable force it trickles down.

I thought Beltre was due for a big season...going from one of the biggest parks to one of th best hitters parks has done him well.

We just need decent starting pitching right now, thankfully we have Wake, he will once again prove to be very valuable in this time of need.
