Tigers will not use him as an everday catcher though. They like Avilas defensive ability, Martinez will split time between catcher/DH/1st base when Cabrera needs a day off.

How am I running him down? I think he will have a disappointing season for them. Dude said they need someone to hit lefties, he didn't do so hot against lefties last year, just pointed that out.

I know I read somewhere he was among the top players in MLB against lefties. I am on my phone so I do not feel like looking up stats.

Either way I feel like we got a solid addition to our lineup. Point is the guy batted .300 with 20+ HR. Red Sox lost a solid player IMO.

Seems like the Soz may end up getting A. Gonzalez as well.

He and Crawford would make me happy, I'll take Werth if Carl doesn't come.

The Red Sox are very close to acquiring Adrian Gonzalez from the Padres, tweets Dan Hayes of the North County Times. Hayes says the trade would just involve Gonzalez and not Heath Bell, whose name has come up in other rumors. Hayes adds that the deal will only involve minor leaguers - not players such as Jacoby Ellsbury, Daniel Bard, or Jed Lowrie. Casey Kelly would definitely be involved.



BOOOM! Please god let this happen, If we could trade for Gonzalez sign him to an extension then sign Carl Crawford I think I'd go crazy!!!

Adrian Gonzalez has flown to Boston & will be taking a physical today, only thing holding the trade from being complete at this point is Gonzalez passing the phyiscal & the Sox agreeing to a contract extension.
