Bard goes 7IP w/ 6K's 1BB

Very good game by Bard, looks like he will pick up his first win as a starter.

Everyone in our rotation besides Buchholz is pitching real good right now.

Dice-K made a start in Double-A today....

Matsuzaka went 4.2 innings, allowing one run on three hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. He threw 74 pitches, 44 strikes and topped out at 93 mph.

I think I need to check my expectations for Dice K hah I may be starting to get carried away the more good news I keep hearing about him

Missed tonight's game but saw we won 1-0, that's 6 wins in a row. Glad to see Lester pitch great & pick up his first win this season. 2 series in a row that we have took, go for the sweep tomorrow w/ Beckett on the mound.

I read on twitter the Aceves was hitting 97-98 in the 9th. I wasn't sure if that was sarcasm or not, but if not that bodes well for him settling down in the closer's role. For some reason I thought he was a 93-94 guy but I've probably only seen him pitch once of twice.

The future seems bright!

"Matt Barnes, the 19th overall selection in the 2011 draft by the Red Sox, was promoted from Low Class A Greenville to Single A Salem earlier today.

The 21-year-old righthander out of UConn didn't give the Red Sox much choice. Check out his statistics through five starts:

26.2 IP, 12 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 42 K.

The one run scored on Sunday after he left the game."

Here's another article on him
Manager On Matt Barnes: "He'll Be At Fenway In A Year Or Two" - Courant.com

"He's one of the greatest kids I've ever been around," Febles said. "His teammates love him. I look to him for leadership in the clubhouse, and when he's on the mound, he's the leader out there."

I like this quote from the manager, kid could be a top of the line starter if he keeps this up.

He's definitely got a shot to be good. I like him. But the dominant numbers are more a reflection of the league he was, for some reason, placed in.

Agree, but 93-96 with a plus curve translates on most levels. He's no Strasburg, but then again not many are. I'm more interested in his attitude at this point then the actual results anyway. I imagine he'll end up in AA by the end of the year if he continues to put up those type of results. Doubt there will be much of a rush with him, but depending on if he is challenged in Greenville, I would want to see how he handles a little adversity at some point before he reaches his innings cap.

If he comes closer to me than Greenville (looking at the schedule, I think he will), then I fully plan on going to see him pitch. He's got traditional, great RHP stuff.

Had a better start to his career stat wise & was promoted faster than Lester or Buchholz did in the farm system. Hopefully he can continue to impress. We need more pitching in a bad way.

So glad to see the Sox bounce back last week & go 6-1 on the road trip. Bats came alive & we got great pitching all around. Would have been 7-0 but Gavin Floyd just has our # for some reason.

Aceves looks like he is getting comfortable in the closer role, looks like Bobby V. likes Morales as his set-up man right now. Adding Hill to the pen helped out a lot, now we can use matchups w/ him.

Everyone in the starting rotation has looked pretty good so far except for Buchholz, he really needs to get his crap together.

Ross is becoming one of my favorite players on the team fast.

Aviles has made everyone forget about trading Scutaro & putting Iglesias in the minors (which by the way he is reealllly struggling at the plate still)

Byrd is hitting .303 since joining the team & has settled our CF position.

Ellsbury said he has started rehabbing in shoulder & is trying to get back before the All-Star break.

Dice-K has been promoted to Triple-A Pawtucket, he will likely get 4 starts there before joining the big league team.

Have a 6 game homestand coming up agains the A's & Indians, would be nice to take 4-5 of these. The schedule for the next 2 weeks looks pretty easy, need to continue to pick up the W's & keep the momentum going into the summer when we get fully healthy finally.

Lavarnway has thrown out 7 of the 13 base runners trying to steal on him do far this season.

What a stat, red sox haven't seen that in years.

I didn't start Buchholz tonight, I figured that would turn him around haha

Time to do work on the schedule at home now, bats are awake, schedule is soft, hope they take advantage. I just want to beat the snot out of bmore after last year lol

Buchholz looked great through 5 then came unraveled in the 6th. Glad we didn't let the game get any closer & we were able to close it out. That's 7 out of 8 now.

Doubront on the mound tonight. Hopefully he can continue his strings of quality starts.

Any word on Cook yet? I haven't seen anything as of now, waiting to see what move they are going to make. Lars back down?

I think he is called up to the bullpen.

edit: nvm, that was a "they should" article, not a confirmation. my bad.

Youk out again tonight for the 3rd straight game, here we go w/ the injuries & him missing games just like the past 2 years. Please send him to the DL or get rid of him & call Middlebrooks up.
