The Official Boston Red Sox Thread

Some tough pitching to deal with in that series, but a split is a lot better than losing 3 of 4!

Bullpen has been so huge the past couple months, Bobby has really been doing a great job and seems to really be settling in.

Tough matchup again tonight with the kid Parker coming off a great start. would like to see Dice K pitch well again and get some run support for his first W.

Prediction for the next OF to get DFA'd? I gotta go with Podsednick.

Ciriaco is 10-12 with 6RBI in his last 3 starts. I'd say that's a pleasant surprise.

Someone must have told him it was spring training all over again.

Good to see Ellsbury back in the lineup last night along with Middlebrooks.

Buchholz is back tonight, hopefully Gonzalez joins him and we have a somewhat normal looking major league lineup in place.

Crawford played 9 innings last night, will play 9 again tonight and then debut on Monday at Fenway against Youk and the White Sox if all goes according to plan.

Also I saw that Bryce Brentz homered in both ends of a double header yesterday.

Maannnnn I really hope Papi doesn't go to the DL. Was having one of the best years of his career.

On a positive note, it's great to see Ellsbury and Crawford back in the outfield.

3 steals from Crawford? Was starting to think I'd never see that again.

On another note, Lester is looking pretty awful and making it pretty clear that this team needs to be a factor at the trade deadline to either improve starting pitching or start selling assets and play for next year.

How do you feel about Dempster? I wouldn't mind it but I don't know who we'd give.

I'd pass personally. This team needs young starting pitching IMO, not giving up prospects and/or spending more money on retreads.

Perfect world, I wish they could swap Beckett, Lester, Buchholz, Lackey for King Felix. Those 4 guys I can't even stand anymore, just bad attitudes bringing the whole team down IMO. I think individually they can all be good, but they are just complacent and/or lazy. Its just ridiculous how much money they make for the return the Sox are getting. So sickening.

/rant.

On another note, just got this heads up from my boy who is a huge Marlins fan...

@BNightengale "The #RedSox insist they are not shopping Crawford, but don't deny that #Marlins and possibly others have approached them."

Edit: Fun while it lasted, apparently the Sox are asking for Reyes or Hanley in return, not likely to say the least.

All 10 runs tonight came from Ross and AGon.

Ross thought he had a 3rd home run and gave a nice little bat flip but the ball hit the monster Lol.

Pedroia is back tonight and Buchholz is starting in place of Morales who is back in the pen. Morales said he is indebted to Bobby V for giving him a shot in the rotation and letting him show people what he is capable of. For now he is a second lefty out of the pen, but a great option to plug into the rotation at some point if needed.

I'm taking a shot at guessing the lineup tonight with Petey back against lefty Jose Quintana...

Ellsbury - CF (L)
Crawford - LF (L)
Pedroia - 2B (R)
Gonzalez - 1B (L)
Ross - RF (R)
Middlebrooks - 3B (R)
Salty - C (S)
Gomez - DH (R)
Aviles - SS (R)

Also, where has Jmoore been? He had better be on some tropical vacation or something, he brings a lot of great info that I am way too lazy to look for hah!

I have no clue..he's been gone for a while though. We've had our ups and downs over him being so negative about the sox and UT but that's all in the past..he's a good poster and brings some solid info.

10 games under 500 when the 2 drunk Texas chicken eaters pitch. 10 games over otherwise.

This about sums it up...despite all the injuries and Gonzalez not hitting his usual marks, Youk getting traded, they are still competitive. But there is literally NO chance of them doing anything if their #1 and #2 starters suck like this all year. 2 more starts to turn it around and then I say pull the plug.
