The Official Boston Red Sox Thread

Also didn't stop ESPN from slurping hard on the Red Sox. If your team isn't the Yanks or the Sox. They don't care.

Tuesday Night baseball on MLB Network. What do they show? Yanks-Sox. Not A's-Rangers. Same thing Wednesday. Joke.

It was coming for a while, Bobby V. deserved to be fired but it's not all on him. The whole organization is in a mess from top to bottom.

Looks like John Farrell is the #1 target for the managerial position according to Red Sox sources.

Also, the Sox are going to try & re-sign Ortiz & Ross this offseason.

Why do they want Farrell so badly

Maddon has become borderline overrated imo

I think it's the fact that Farrell has been in Boston, he understands the pressure involved w/ the job. The Front Office already has a good relationship w/ him, he understands most of the players on the team already, he is a good pitching coach (which everyone knows pitching is a major concern for Boston).

Red Sox are planning to interview San Diego Padres special assistant to the GM Brad Ausmus, Ausmus was a catcher in MLB for 18 years w/ the Padres, Tigers, Astros, & Dodgers.

They are also planning to interview Dodgers 3B coach Tim Wallach.

I just hope it gets taken care of a lot quicker than last year. It dragged on forever and that was the beginning of the end.

I wouldn't mind seeing Farrell get a shot, given his success with Lester and Buchholz, or rather the success they had under him.

You seem to hear nothing but positive things about Ausmus, especially from P Gammons. I'm mildly intrigued with the idea of him taking over.

Bottom line, make a decision, make it seem unanimous and lets put this nonsense behind us finally. Baseball was not enjoyable this year.

I agree, def need to make sure you don't take as long as you did last offseason.

They need to hurry & hire someone so they can focus on the roster also.

Iona, I was thinking earlier today, remember who we gave up for Adrian Gonzalez?

Casey Kelly & Anthony Rizzo, I bet the front office wish they could take that deal back. Kelly could be the 4th or 5th starter right now & Rizzo would be the starting 1B. SMH.

Yea Rizzo would be looking pretty amazing slotted at first with Middlebrooks at third, Kelly in the rotation and all this new found financial flexibility.

I forgot to mention that one huge positive from that Rizzo/Kelly trade is that in a round about way it brought us that kid Rubby de la Rosa, stud. I think he is not only better than Kelly right now, but has a higher ceiling also. Adding Webster helps too but doesn't make up for losing Rizzo IMO, but I would rather have young pitching than hitting anyway, can always pay for another 1b if it comes down to it.

Front Office is expected to interview Yankees bench coach Tony Pena today & then Orioles 3B coach Demaro Hale later this week. Hale was Tito's bench coach in 2010-2011 & was the 3B coach the previous 3 years.
