On Twitter last night, Ben Badler of BA said something along the lines of, "I'll have an article up soon talking about the best amateur prospect in Japan, and I might even touch on Shohei Otani."
According to Badlers article:
Otani has gotten the hype, and while hes certainly talented, scouts arent sold that hes even the best high school prospect in Japan.
The countrys top prep prospect for many evaluators is Shintaro Fujinami, a 6-foot-5 righthander who outperformed Otani at the 18U World Championships in South Korea in late August and early September.
Badler did say if Otani had been part of the 2012 International signing pool he would not rank as a Top 100 prospect for 2013.
