The *OFFICIAL* Brandon Spikes thread (merged)

of course you say this...you are an unbiased gator fan

I admit my bias. I'm just getting bored with the whole controversy at this point. First it was that the media loves us too much, then it was that the officials are in our corner, now its this.

Being at the top of the heap, you have to expect the constant sniping.

I haven't tried to justify it. I've said he should get a one game suspension, thoigh a half isn't so ridiculoously low as to be unreasonable.

On the other hand, I do think people are getting a little high and mighty about this just because its a chance to crticize the Gators.

Really? One game! A sucker punch gets a kid suspended for 7 games but something that could damage a kids vision for life gets a half a game... You're right LG, I mean hell it's just an eye! Right? You just showed your class as did your coach and AD. The entire nation outside of Slive and the UF knows how bad this is. You can try and justify this all you want while at the same time claim your not. But the world sees what it is and who your fake ass coach really is.

Mike Golic is that you? The reason for the video was not to justify Spikes and his actions, rather just show the "chippiness" of the game in general. As I said earlier in this thread, there is no place for what Spikes did in football or anywhere else for that matter. Spikes was completely out of line and should have been suspended from the game and the next game completely. He will serve his punishement. Now, will you take back all the hate towards me in your post? :p

The fact you think one game is enough for this says a lot about you.

Sniping? Really? Were you not the one going nuts about a UT player flashing a toy gun a while back? Talking about how bad that was etc.? You should really have stuck with your leaving when you hit your post count of however many thousand.
Hey, it's not to late you know. Most of us would welcome it.

Chris Low is from where? He used to write for who?

What about Wetzel? I may be wrong, but I don't believe he has ever been associated with UT, or any school in the south. Maybe people are calling it like it is.

I am COMPLETELY shocked by the response of the "sherrif" at the UofF. With the total ZERO tolerance he has shown toward discipline, I would have expected a much harsher punishment. What will be next, players getting into fights, trouble with the law, dare I say....ARRESTED? :whistling: But, like Tim said, "We didn't do anything they didn't do", guess it was just going eye for an eye, Old Testament style.

The fact that nothing happened speaks for the suspension. If his eyes would have been gouged out then he would be kicked out of college football. Haynesworth drew blood for actually stomping on the guy's head and Blount connected with the punch to the guys face. If Blount would have not connected with the punch and whiffed, do you think he would have gotten his major suspension?

I'm a card carrying member of that group.

I feel obliged to stick around so that when UT is good enough to beat UF again you have your chance to rub it in.

I figure to be here awhile.

agreed about being in the spotlight....nothing can be changed now except that I assume if an incident like this takes place in the SEC on any team that harsher punishment will be in place.

good will eventually come out of this...it's a shame that Meyer and the SEC didn't make an example at it's first case.

I'm sure Spikes meant to gouge his eyes out. The fact that nothing happened speaks for the suspension. If his eyes would have been gouged out then he would be kicked out of college football. Seriously? Do you read what you write? "He tried to rip the guys eyes out but unfortunately he missed so it doesn’t count". Yes sir, you are trash!
And for the record if you will do a little history you will see that Haynesworth was ripped a new one on this site by Vol fans. As far as Oregon goes, they showed proper action in dealing with such an issue. The UF? Well they just showed the rest of the country what most of the SEC already knew. You have a fake, sanctimonious coach and QB who spout scripture to make people think they are good folk... Yet their actions (or lack there of) speaks volumes. All the arrests were starting to mount up and make Meyer look bad but his actions or lack there of with this just flipped the switch on a spot light and revealed their true character.

I guess Golic was a big UT fan also. So, I guess if everyone doesn't see it like Urban does then they MUST be against Florida. What's so bad is Spikes is a Captain. Aleader doing dispicable things. Urban should've done more. Taken away his captain status along with suspension at a minimum. I'd be Irate if one of our guys did that. It makes the whole program look bad. I'd like to meet Spikes on the street. I guarantee he wouldn't walk away. Maybe after he picks himself back up off the ground. Once a thug, always a thug. And to think, a lot of kids looked up to him. Not now.

I have no desire or intention to rub it in at all, not on this board and certainly not on an opponents, just don't have that obnoxious troll gene in me.

If that's all you are waiting on, I'd wager you won't have to stay nearly as long as you think.

Gator's really are fantastic at coming up with excuses. " Tennessee wasn't really trying to win", "We had the flu", "Ealey poked me first", "Brandon Spikes has an injured vagi*a" ,"whaaaaaaaaaaaaaa whaaaaaaaaaaaaa". UF you will get yours, VERY SOON. And Meyer, even ESPN thinks you are losing credibility.

Guess what sport, UF doesn't need an excuse for anything. Defending national champions, 18 game winning streak, 7-0 and #1 in the BCS . And yes, we will get ours very soon- that being another SEC championship and third BCS title in 4 years.

Everything always comes back to Tebow. Let me say this, what Spikes did was wrong. He should have been suspended for the entire Vandy game, if not more. Gator nation should not and does not condone this - no matter what happened previously in the game.

Let me guess. You probably think the punishment is fine as well? Or maybe Urban should have really gotten tough on him and made him miss the entire game against the tough Vandy?

Go away and celebrate your teams thuggish behavior at a prison with the rest of the team.

Success breeds contempt. Perhaps some day your program will be successful enough to enjoy being hated and envied.

Tim brought himself in this debate by defending Spikes.

A one game suspension would have been appropriate. I'm just amused at the ridiculously excessive emotional reaction on the part of you Vol fans.

This has NOTHING to do with success. It has everything to do with thuggish behavior and a player trying to gouge another kids eyes out. I don't care if it was a player from Temple or Buffalo. What Spikes did was terrible and a half game or even one game is not even close to being enough punishment.
But you and your other UF buddies on this site don't seem to have the character to see this and that speaks volumes about you and where your priorities are.
But I've come to expect nothing less from your ilk.

This is priceless. :eek:lol:

Vol fans? Like we're the only ones? Do you watch ESPN? Do you listen to ESPN radio or other sports radio that's not out of Florida? Do you read what national sports writers are saying? Again, this is not a UF thing for me. I don't care who the kid is or what team he plays for. If a Vol did that I would be just as pissed. Just like when Haynesworth stomped the guys face, he was ripped apart on this site for his actions. But all you UF fans can do is make excuses and talk about other issues. As a fan of UF you should be outraged at the action of the player and more especially that of your coach. But that would be the action of someone with character and none of you UF fans have shown that on this site.

Just for the record, I'm not concerned. This is nothing more than another envious, emotional overreation. Calm down and take a deep breath- everything will be fine.

We've been to the top and been successful long before the gators got there. I acknowledge the gators recent success and respect their accomplishments on the field but have no use for classless trolling garbage such as you.
