The Official ETSU @ Tennessee Game Thread (Tues. 3/18 5PM EDT) (SECNET+)

I wouldn’t be shocked to see ETSU win the SoCon by 5 games and they only play 21 conference games…
I don't know if their pitching will play through a full weekend series, but for any given game, that is a really good mid-conference team. Run well, field well, put the ball in play.

Might take a motorcycle ride to Lexington VA to watch them play VMI in May. Seems like that might be a fun series.

A Tennessee tradition. Getting the #1 ranking then *****ing the bed the next game. I know it doesn't matter in the grand scheme but it's annoying.
Should have already been unanimous number 1 before this week. LSwho lost to freaking Omaha for crying out loud. It took a miraculous effort with 4 homers and crazy diving/sliding outfield catches towards the end for ETSU to win that game and it even went extra innings. No shame in losing a singular game to a top 30 team in extras. Evansville wasn’t even top 50 and our national championship team dropped a game to them. This is why baseball is suppose to be played in series. You can’t take one game to heart.

Probably the most optimal situation for our first loss. It was going to happen at some point and the pressure to stay unblemished grows every game.

We are about to go on the road for our first SEC away series. This loss simultaneously pops the unblemished pressure bubble, affords Tony to get their heads straight going into a much more important series, and hopefully puts a chip on their shoulder for the weekend.

Lots of truth in this imo. Someone said bring in Snead…that was never gonna happen for the reasons you stated.

This loss will, in my opinion, pay great dividends for this weekend. The boys should have a healthy case of "red ass" after blowing opportunity after opportunity to put the game away. So, I'll take it if it leads to a series win this weekend.

On a side note, ETSU is a good looking ball team. They will be in the NCAA.

It’s baseball, it happens.

But being up here in the TRI, all the overnight baseball fans will come out of the woodwork and I will get to hear all about this for the rest of the season. That’s the part that stinks.
Who are these baseball fans? Last I checked we are the defending national champions and of the previous 5 champions before us, only 1 of them have sniffed the CWS since their championship season and that’s only because NIL started in the summer of 2021 so they were still taking advantage of their scholarship loophole before Tony evened the playing field.
