The coaching staff is coming together nicely, and the addition of Tee would be absolutely huge. However, one thing that bothers me, despite their previous SEC experience, is that the Martinez-Jancek combo's defense for UGA in 2009 gave up some big numbers... Do you guys think a few more years of experience for them, plus a role-flip (Jancek as DC) will make a big difference? Our defense has a long way to go... will they be able to handle it?
He'd have to go back and get his degree first.
I don't understand why every time there is a coaching search, people bring up Al Wilson. The guy has no degree and no interest in coaching, otherwise he would be a GA or coaching somewhere. Same thing for Rodney Garner. He is not leaving Georgia. His wife doesn't want to leave.
Defense may not have as far to go. They played pretty well for Wilcox, problem was Sunseri trying to jam a round peg into a square hole...the athletes were not there for the full implementation of his scheme, yet he stubbornly forced it anyway. It exposed a lack of speed in the secondary that we just didnt have an answer for.
Cincy had a pretty decent D last year, cohesion and chemistry worked out well. Now I wont compare the level of competition to the SEC but you have to be measured on how you performed against. Also, if we weigh the level of competition argument, we must also address the fact the CBD and staff did not have SEC caliber players themselves.
I for one am excited about the hire and hires. I feel this is better for the long term than hiring Gruden, Petrino, or Mora Jr. Gruden would have been 1 successful season from Kiffining us, Petrino would have submarined the program with his self first attitude and Mora Jr would have jumped back to the league if given the chance. CBD wants to be at UT and has embraced what and who we are. So what if he hasnt filled the staff with sexy hires, what he has done is staff it with experience, particularly SEC experience. As far as "Name" coaches...USC isnt faring too well with that loaded staff...(Monte Kiffin anyone?)
Lets give CBD and Co. a chance and.... GBO!!!

USC Football: Coach Tee Martin to Tennessee? He's in Knoxville Today - Reign of Troy - A USC Trojans Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and more.
While Martins tenure has been a success for USC so far, especially in the recruiting sphere, there are grumbles that the former Tennessee legend hasnt been happy working under Lane Kiffin. Scott Wolf of the Daily News alleges that the repetitive nature of some duties that USC coaches are required to do during the season hasnt made a fan out of Martin,
Been watching tee martin fB page and he hasn't posted anything since butch jones was hired. That makes me believe that he is quietly getting ready to come home to Tennessee!!

If you think a winning record in the NFL is average, I think it's safe to say you don't follow the NFL very closely.
And I like how you list winning 1 Super Bowl as being average. List all of the coaches that haven't won a Super Bowl and all of the coaches that have won multiple Super Bowls.
You also seem to forget that he had the Patriots beat the year they won their first Super Bowl. The Raiders got robbed on that tuck garbage.
