Don't compare Coach BJ to my Dooley! You have NEVER been in his office to know what he does because everything is NOT privy to these boards.

FYI: Dooley knew everything..... take that for what's worth.

Now move on. We have a coaching staff, so let's get on that train until it stops again.:peace2:

Running backs -- Jay Graham (retained from UT)
Tight ends -- Mark Elder
Wide receivers -- Tee Martin (USC) OR T.J. Weist (UC) OR ???

Defensive coordinator -- John Jancek (UC)*
Defensive line coach -- Steve Stripling (UC)
Linebackers -- Tommy Thigpen (Auburn)*
Secondary -- Willie Martinez (Auburn)*

* It's possible that Jancek could handle linebackers while Martinez and Thigpen split secondary duties.

I am not going to complain about any staff hired. While I am a Grudenite, I feel that we have hired this guy who appears to have been successful at both of this other stops and has the respect of his players in the past. Outside people think he is a good hire but I do have reservations at this time. The responsibility for UT's success is on his shoulders and I think he should have the ability to hire who he wants to produce the results here at UT.

Those results will be how many wins he produces over the next three years.

Before you criticize the assistants remember that Fulmer won a NC game with Pat Washington and Randy Sanders on his staff and I am not sure that they were that good.

So far I like what Butch is doing in focusing on recruiting with Graham, Tee, Thigpen, etc. I think that Martinez and the DC guy will also help recruiting. I believe the other coaches from Cincy will help with states like Ohio, Pennsylvania, etc.

But my main point is Butch is the guy and he needs to hire the people that he thinks will bring him success in the next 3 years. That is the bottom line.

Best Staff in America is all relative to ones perception. To us it may look average but if CBJ trusts these guys and they know how he works and what hwants and can have results on the field then to him it will be the best staff in America. IMO

Our coaches just got fired and most of you want some of them back. What does that mean? Just get over the getting fired deal and give our coach a chance.

He was DC at Geogia and they sucked. But now he's a position coach. Big difference

For those talking about the "best staff", This man took the job about 3 days ago. Look what he has picked up so far. He said he would assemble it and he is working on it. He didn't say it would be immediatley he said it would take time and didn't know how long. But, if you aren't impressed with what the man has done in the last 72 hours, I would just read and listen.

I like this staff that we are putting together. I dont think the names alone are what makes a great staff but the amount of time and relationship that each coach has with each other. Like Dooley never had a staff with years of experience together and thats part of his losing ways. Continuity is a major part in this search and so far it looks like a great job!!
