The Official Larry Fedora Thread I

You wanna know how good Fedora is?

The team he just left went 0-12. After they went 12-2. And he's taken over a mess at UNC. And can recruit.

He should be #3 behind Gruden and Stoops.

Could be left at the right time and left S.Miss with zero talent.

I thought we were talking about Fedora and Mullen not Sumlin...

If the linchpin in your argument is beating a CUSA team, I suppose I'll be the first to concede.

Good debate, though. Either way, I'd be disappointed.

We are talking Fedora and Mullen. Find me a team Mullen has beat.

And walked into a goldmine of talent (NCAA issues notwithstanding) at UNC in an inferior conference.

Fedora is a great coach. No one denies that. Most people won't like him because 1. They know nothing about college football outside of the big teams or 2. Are mad his name is not Gruden.

That's a bit presumptuous on your part. I want to see what's behind door #3.

If Gruden says no, I don't let this guy get away. Fedora is a slam dunk. Success at every level, spent time in south, can recruit.

I attended Fedora's Spring Coaches Clinic at UNC. He is intense! Wide open offense with spread, vertical, and no huddle. They play fast. Defense is 4-2-5 with a lot of aggressive blitzing. Solid coaching staff. Fedora has a lot of fire, and would light a fire under the players. He is solid on the recruiting trail as well. He would do well. I have attended many coaching clinics, including UT's with Fulmer, and Fedora impressed me. Cut at Duke is impressive as well. Cut can coach. I know he is off the radar, but he and his staff get the most out of the players at Duke.

He signed a 5* at Southern Miss. UNC has a good class with the NCAA looming over them. He would do fine.

Fedora is a mixture of Kiffin's aggressiveness and Dooley's class. Here's the kicker, he can actually coach too. I'm talking myself out of it, it's fedora and then strong if we don't get Gruden.

I would usually back this up but there's more to the story on deandre brown. Yes technically fedora got him there but southern wasn't his first or second choice. Plus he was a bust

I like Fedora, and I think he's a fine coach. I just would like to see him have a few more seasons of success before we hand him the keys to a Tennessee program that has had all the wind knocked out of its sails for the past few years. We need a HUGE hire. If our program wasn't in such a need of an adrenaline rush, Fedora would be a GREAT hire.

I think if we don't land Gruden or Stoops (and I don't think we will) then I would be all for Fedora. We may not be able to get the huge hire you speak of and Fedora wouldn't be a bad "consolation" prize.Could very well have been hired at Florida and would have probably spanked Dooley worse than Muschamp.I say bring him on!

Seems to be a very good coach. This year he has UNC with it's 1st conference winning record in about 12 years. They paid him well at 2.4 million. If he were wanting to get out of the NCAA mess there and come to UT for maybe 2.75 million, I would be all for it.

My mistake, I see the post below stated he makes much less than 2.4. I say offer him 2.25 then and would be a good option.

I posted this yesterday:

I think Larry Fedora needs to be mentioned in the discussions.

4 bowl games in 4 seasons at Southern Miss.

SEC experience under Zook at Florida.

2 years at MTSU so he actually might have an ideal how to recruit the in state talent we do have unlike Dooley.

Took a UNC team facing a post season ban this year to an 8-4 record with three losses by a combined 9 points. The only real red flag was the blowout to GA Tech but that option is tough to face sometimes.

They are ranked three spots higher than the Vols in recruiting and facing much tougher NCAA sanctions than the Vols. Losing 5 scholarships a year for 3 years, post season ban this season, 3 years probation.

2.35 million dollar buyout, making 1.7 million a year so he would be one of the cheaper options among those listed.

Shouldn't be the first choice, but I'd have him in my top 10.
