The Official Libertarian/Anarcho-Capitalist Thread

You're right, it's not. I think you're supposed to be laughing at it.

However, never heard anybody use the term adult spouse to explain that there is one adult partner who can drink and one adult partner who cannot. We also live in a world where we have minor (meaning younger than 18) spouses. We also live in a world where people who do not care about this fact are fighting against drag shows, so the point remains.

But I'm sure Applebee's appreciates you fighting against this meme.
What's wrong with getting married at 17? It's not for everyone but some choose it.

Fascists attacking drag bars? Yeah so how many other places are letting adults bringing their children to watch drag queens spreading their perverted crap? And how is that sign equating your child brides?

Would you rather have your 12-year-old daughter see a man sing a song dressed as a woman or marry a 40 year old at age 16? Let's hear it.

Your hangups don't make it not fascist.

Sorry, I misread then.

I don't agree with it but I also don't take a position on what the government should do about it. IDK what's right. Nothing wrong with 19 and 17 with parental blessing, but 40 and 16 feels very wrong, but I also am not sure a law against it is a good idea.

I feel like there’s some missing context here. RICO and espionage are two very different things.

Part of me was posting this because I don't really understand it and I was hoping somebody would clarify. I figure the parallel is that they are both broad wild cards that can basically be slapped on targets of the government. Popehat is a libertarian lawyer who specifically says on his Twitter profile, "I do the RICO". I read the twitter thread and it wasn't helpful in that regard.

If I figure it out, I'll post it here.

Seems they’re only responding to the culture war. That seems to be how this works. The left does something crazy and then you call everyone else “culture warriors” for noticing

I notice it. I don't have a problem with anybody noticing it. I have a problem with LP focusing their political capital on it. It's deranging libertarians. They'll gladly align with and even defend big government types because they are on the "correct" side of the culture war.

And being a petty little bitch about the culture war on the party's social media is beyond embarrassing.

So we agree the culture wars are lead by the left, but you think the problem is pointing out the problem?

If someone brings up bad ideas on how to fight culture wars (like more regulation of Facebook), 100% call them out. But this is you calling them out for simply pointing out the problem.

Why’s that bad? Their tweet you’re complaining about has nothing to do with any specific policy. So what’s the problem

You are such an unbeleivable waste of time. You don't ever get what I'm saying. Nothing I said merits this erroneous response.

Your initial post was complaining about the LP for pointing out stupidity and you attempted to defend it by saying it may bleed over into policy. If it does, stop bad polices, agreed.

But “some people may have bad ideas about how to address a problem” doesn’t mean “we shouldn’t point out the problem” which is what you were complaining about

So you have a problem with the national LP or any state LP getting involved in the culture wars?

Yet you get on here and call out Dave Chappelle or anyone else who you feel doesn't align with your so called "libertarian" ideology. Which you've done several times.

If you can do it then the LP or anyone else is free to do it themselves.

It's not just involvement, it's the fact that some libertarians make it a priority and they are expanding government in the process. And then specific to this conversation, I've caught this NH LP account being a petty little bitch on several occasions. What is the point of that? This is not a personal account of somebody anonymous on the internet. This is the party account. The one that represents the party...are they winning hearts and minds by saying "wE dOn'T kNoW wHaT a WoMaN iS aNyMoRe?" It's just for trolling. If the party account is just trolling, that's a problem.

This doesn't make much sense. My comments about Dave Chappelle have had little-to-nothing to do with my political ideology. I don't hold him to my political standards like I do the LP because he's not a libertarian. I have been critical of him for focusing too much on trans jokes. That is all. I also disagree with people canceling him and I've called it out.

If you can do it then the LP or anyone else is free to do it themselves.

Of course, anyone is free to do whatever they want. They are not free from criticism.

The correct position for the LP should be to say to the woke and progressive left, "We believe in individual rights and minding our own business and you are free to push whatever agenda you want as long as you are not using force or hurting anyone." When it doesn't appear that this is the position, I hold the party accountable. Imagine that, right? You guys in the GOP don't know what that's like.
