IDK. I don't claim to know. I just know that Butch had his chance. Great recruiter. Good guy. Nothing against Butch. This is business. He is terrible at preparing his guys for game day. We know that now. We have consistently struggled against mediocre teams, and this was going on before the injury bug bit us.

My biggest fear is that we don't get rid of Butch now and when we finally do, the cupboard will be bare. The cupboard is almost full right now and that's going to be very enticing to a good coach.

Butch doesn't "deserve" to be fired, but that's not what this is about. It's about taking that next step. Coaches fire the school after a few years, when it is not deserved....they are just trying to make the best move for them. It happens all the time. We should be able to do the same.

If the stories are true, he sounds like he privately thinks pretty highly of himself and doesn't take criticism well. So if he does have that much of an ego he might, but I still seriously doubt it.

If his ultimate goal is the NFL, he won't get there leaving a job like Tennessee to go coach a school like Purdue.

I hear you and agree for the most part but firing a coach who might win ten games this season and a sugar bowl doesn't really appeal to the big name coaches out there. It just isn't going to happen. I always hope UT wins so I can't root for a loss just to get rid of a guy. He has to ruin it all on his own. We expected to win a NC w CPF and Manning and didn't, then boom. So who knows what the future holds. We have 26 seniors next season so that helps and two really solid QBs IMO

I've been around for 2 years now at Volnation, and I never thought I'd see something eclipse 2014 Florida. If we lost tonight I think that might just happen :thud:

I just don't care as much as some I guess. I watch to enjoy and if we lose so be it. I don't have the energy to ***** and complain about it. It's a game played by young men and supposed to be fun, if it's not, why watch.

I'll still complain but i'm past the point where it ruins my day. Used to ruin my weekend and i'm glad to have grown out of that....it's the one positive takeaway from the Dooley years.

I'm doing being positive about this. **** this ****. I am so done right now. Seriously. Done. I can't believe it. I still love Tennessee but I just...I just don't know anymore.

You had any left? I'm not even remotely surprised we lost.

I'm more shocked now that Missouri beat Vandy, though they also beat Arkansas Friday.

Anyway, we're stuck with Butch at least 1 more season. I'm thinking next year is going to be one big lame duck blah year.

Lame duck as in 2012. 2017 will be another talented team that underachieves.

I've come to the conclusion that if it's a must win game and Butch Jones is coaching, there's a 100% chance that his team will lose.
