So you’re telling me that my choice is to root for either bama to miss the tourney or vandy and Florida to miss out?It increases the likelihood Vanderbilt, Florida, and LSU all miss the NCAAT. No way they are taking five 13-17 teams. 6 SEC teams are solidly in and two, possibly 3 spots up for grabs. Vanderbilt, Florida, and LSU have the lowest RPI of the 13-17 teams so they would be the odd teams out. I’m rooting more for those three teams to miss the NCAAT.
I must confess I am not up to date across the board enough to know the answer to that question. I am just expressing my native hate for Bammers. Them missing the NCAA would be sweet. How much help does them winning actually give us? (Idk.) My gut reaction is to think that we will be ok, either way, and anything that causes Bammer to fail may be dividends in the future. This is gonna sound crazy and Lord forgive me for saying this, but...
Aren’t we pulling for bama to get the win? Doesn’t it help us a little more?
I've been watching this and other games ... it's nice to watch a pressure filled game without any internal pressure what-so-ever.Alabama playing their biggest game of the season and losing 2-1 to Auburn T4
If they win they own the 5-team tiebreaker at 13-17 for 7th place due to their series win over Tennessee. If they lose they plummet all the way to the 11th seed and likely miss the NCAAT with 12 conference wins.
RPI has us at 26 SOS. We actually played some very competitive teams in the non conference- Illinois, KSU, Xavier, ETSU, kind of Bowling Green. But they were all at home, which the RPI doesn’t quite give you as much credit. Texas Tech is RPI 58, so they weren’t as good as expected. Baylor was bad. They were just breaking down the resumes during this Arky game and now that I think about it I’m not sure our SOS is high enough to get the #1 overall seed, which is good news. We may be the 1-seed in Hoover, but we’re only 39 in SOS compared to Top 10 for Kentucky and Arkansas.
Really comes down to this game for Alabama. They cannot afford to be swept by Auburn. They have 5 series wins but have also been swept by Georgia, Kentucky, and potentially Auburn now. 12 conference wins is a death sentence for the NCAAT. They would play themselves out of the tournament, even with their good RPI. If they lose it would be LSU and Alabama as the odd teams out and Florida/Vanderbilt praying they get selected. Vanderbilt took 2/3 against Florida so I would have to give them the tiebreaker on getting in since their RPI is so close. South Carolina is in at the moment so they don’t have anything to worry about imo.So you’re telling me that my choice is to root for either bama to miss the tourney or vandy and Florida to miss out?
Take me now, because I refuse to partake in such blasphemy.
There has to be a scenario where all 3 miss it, right?
VP, crunch those numbers again...
