The Official Tennessee @ Arkansas Series Thread (4/14 8PM EST SEC NETWORK) (4/15 7PM EST SEC NET+) (4/16 3PM EST SEC NET+)

This sweep at the hands of Arkansas does not bode well for winning back to back regular season SEC titles so let's focus on finishing as strong as we can in the league and then gaining some momentum for a possible SEC tournament championship in Hoover.

It is what it is. Last year was special. Thus far, this season has been kind of a dud. Hopefully the hard times this year make for a better team next year. These guys just need to gel as a team and find an identity.

It’s not just the record. It’s the fact we aren’t even in close games. We give away outs on the bases, and are sloppy in the field. And we are a power hitting team that can’t manufacture runs. Lots to straighten out.

Nightmare weekend. 5-10 SEC. Need 8-7 SEC going forward just to get on the NCAA bubble. Uphill climb for sure. Geez.

Thats doable……KY and SC are about to be faced with some adversity And wont be playing as well when we see them

Sorry to be "that guy" but my ire is up a bit today. So....

Tell me you haven't watched the BaseVols this season without telling me you haven't watched the BaseVols this season.
We have lost 10 SEC games by an average of 4.5 runs, 5 by 5+. Those aren’t exactly close games. UF and Mizzou losses weren’t competitive at all. LSU yes and this series until today were.

“I worry about this team playing tough enough,” Vitello said. “Tough enough that we all feel good about it when we get in the shower here — which that sounds like a goofy comment — but we get on the bus, you go home lay your head on the pillow. That’s what I want. That’s been said indirectly. Directly. All that good stuff. This league will chew you up and spit you out if you’re not tough but also the game of baseball will do the same thing too. At the end of the day you want to be able to hang your hat on something but there’s only going to be one team that wins the last game of the year this year. If it’s hanging your hat on wins and losses only you’re chasing a ghost.”

I think Tennessee will be the sleeper pick in the SEC tournament.
Hopeful thinking?

last year was great, until Notre dame came to town. Was that a one year outlier or is this year. Let’s hope it is since we’ve committed a lot of $ to our current coach.

CTV took nothing and turned it into top program. You’re comparing 1/2 year to his 5+ being here….after getting 10 players drafted and replacing all 8 position players.

I've seen nothing that would lead me to pick UT as a sleeper in the SECT. Pitching? Defense? Offense? Not a lot to be optimistic about right now. Maybe the pitching figures out what ails them and they become the staff we all expected, but right now, not so much. Not giving up hope, but it might be that we just need to figure out who will rise and become the leaders for next years squad. A rough season will tell Tony V a lot about the guys on this roster.

Both at both ends of the spectrum. Last year was an outlier in college baseball period. CTV’s worst season was his first at 12-18 and has improved every year so I don’t expect those types of season to be the norm. DVH, Corbin and Bianco have all had 4+ seasons of going under .500 in the league so it’s going to happen. Doesn’t mean the program is on the rocks by any means but at the same time, it doesn’t mean the season isn’t on the rocks.

I think that's probably what we're playing for from here on out. Just find out who your leaders will be. Find the guys who will fight no matter what's on the line and build around those guys.
