The Official Tennessee @ Oklahoma Game Thread, 8:00pm ET, ABC

McElroy, former Bama QB and now on The SEC network given us mad props. Basically says if the pic 6 from end to end goes another way, Vols are right there with a chance to win.

Thank goodness for some reasonable voices. The guys on the sec network just complimented Tennessee for playing such a good game. Said the game was much closer than the score and they're right. Wish some of the "fans" on this board could see that.

Score was about what I expected, but we played them tougher than I expected. As many others have noted, could have been 27-17 if we score instead of the pick 6. We're a lot closer right now than we were a year ago.

I'm going to have a little Blanton's on the rocks and feel good about what we're going to look like in a year or two.

We were playing the fourth ranked team in the country at their house simpleton. We are playing 20 plus true freshman . Many of these guys have not even played a road game. If you can't understand the challenge that presents then you truly are as ignorant as your posts make you appear . We were incredibly outclassed on experience and stood toe to toe with one of the favorites to make the 4team playoff . Take off the doomsday glasses. This team has gone through immortal hell for the last 5 plus years and have every reason to quit at the first sign of trouble . This team showed tonight that they are different . Hide and watch . We will beat one of the BIG teams this year and you doomsdayers are going to be eating major crow .

I've said it before. If we go to a bowl game this year we have overachieved and beat someone we shouldn't have. If we win 7 Butch should be coach of the year. If we win 8, Butch win a NCAA championship in 3 years.

Croom=Sit and let Malone take your spot.
O line, sad. Couldn't even get in someone's way to slow them down for 3 seconds.
Worley staring down and forcing throws again cost us a TD or two.... Croom cost us a TD and didn't catch jack-ah@# all night. Not sure by now he is mentally able to contribute at all while here. Zero adjustments on play calling throughout the game. Horrible OC job tonight which is a little scary. Don't think I saw a single 5 yard slant the entire night. But we saw 4 molasses slow pitch it to pig around the middle plays that cheerleaders could see were coming and prepare for.... D played hard and the best they could being held every other play when they got pressure on the QB. Yes, that was a fumble we missed out on. I hate SToopz

The Vols mostly gave good effort, but Worley was abused to the point he's lucky to be alive. The effort on some plays by the Oline was tenious at best.

The Vol's seem to at least be a little better than last year, but making a Bowl for Team 118 is going to be very tough indeed.

For those that keep calling for the OC's head, keep in mind, he is limited by his qb.

Worley is a gutsy young man. His heart showed out tonight and anybody questioning that is an idiot. That said, he is not the style of qb suited for running this offense. For the read-option to truly be effective, the qb has to be a threat to keep the ball and run. That does not describe Worley. Other teams know, 99% of the time, the rb is going to get the ball, so they can sell out on stuffing the rb and not have to worry about the qb making them pay. Worley is fine as it pertains to the passing part of this style of offense. He is no where near fine where it pertains to the running part of this style of play. To see this offense work, we need a qb with wheels.

Yeah if Croom caught the other pass, it could have been 27-24. Also, Ut kicked a fg close to the goal line. It was a much closer game at in the 4th than the final score shows.

He's a good passer but there were some strangely designed plays tonight.

Post of the day nominee.

This team could have folded its tent when it went down early in the first but they didnt, they kept fighting all the way to the end. Worley got the hell beat out of him all night but got up off of his ass and gave it his best. They took a team of freshmen to one of the toughest places to win a game and gave it their all. Proud of them and proud to be a supporter of the Tennessee Volunteers.

Tons of people think the sky is falling even though most predicted almost the exact outcome. Our O line is absolutely terrible, but aside from that it wasn't a bad performance. Worley started forcing it some but he had to what're you going to do when your down 20 and your OC calls a pass play on the 5? You have to throw it, imagine the crap he'd get if he ate that and got sacked. The other pick was on croom and he dropped some other balls. North catches that ball 50 percent of the time and wouldn't let it go the opposite way. Hurd looked great and I'm proud of our D for hanging in there. Our offensive play calling is really starting to worry me though.

You nega Vols need to call the SEC network they have it all wrong . They just cut to a commercial break with the following phrase " Tennessee young , young , young a difficult test ..., they didn't win but may have just passed "

…but, it was a better game than Oregon last year. There has been clear improvement in certain areas (though along with some of the same problems cropping up again and again). Is that enough for you guys? Do you think baby steps will ever get our program out of the hole it's in?
