Thrash, Justin:

Appreciate the civil discussion, despite our differences. Wish it was more common.

Dave McGinnis to St Louis as Assistant HC. Not much of a surprise there.

LB coaching position now open.

Edit: Forgot that McGinnis wasn't a position coach and Frank Bush is the LBs coach.

Not sure it should either, team has waaaay bigger needs that need to be met in the offseason, more important than "money thrown at another QB - mainly bc he went to college in this state"

yeah, I think we're most of the way there on offense (save maybe some interior line) we need help in the secondary and some more depth up front. Suprised and pleased with the LB - this team with Britt will be much better next year. That being said, we should have won @Jac the first game of the year and @Ind - which would have given us 11 wins...

Blown lead at cincy probably gets thrown in there too

It's crazy to think how close the team was to winning 12 games, although the last Houston game was almost like a preseason game for Houston. Would've been one of the least dominant 12-win teams ever. And think about the number of chances the team had to win the game vs New Orleans...Plug it in the endzone once from New Orleans' side of the field (and goal to go in the final seconds) and they win that game, too.

Upgrade the DL, S, and the interior OL and I think next year can be a lot of fun.

Ahh, the offseason. All we can do is play the "what if" game. I love the offseason as much as the season, though, once free agency and the combine gets started.

Looking at next year's schedule, I can't help but think that the Titans need some big upgrades. They would be lucky to win 6 or 7 games next year with the current roster.

Great point. I keep forgetting how difficult next year's schedule is going to be. Awesome home schedule, though!

This isn't a very long read, but it has some interesting comments about the draft, free agency, and Jake Locker.

Tennesse Titans Football | Titans GM Talks Draft, Free Agency at Lipscomb

As we all have stated and expect, it sounds like defense and interior OL will be the offseason focus this year according to Ruston Webster's comments. I'm a big proponent of a strong front seven, so if they draft a bunch of DL early then I'll be a happy camper.

Ruston Webster said:
“My immediate goal is to help improve our offensive line and our defensive front seven. That’s going to be our focus moving forward into free agency and the draft. If we can do that – get a little bit more of a pass rush and run the ball a little better — I think we’ll be okay.”

Also sounds like Cortland Finnegan's time with the Titans is over. (Just reading into his comments about making unpopular business decisions.)

Still wish Pierre Paul had fallen a few more spaces like he was originally supposed to

Keys to winning a championship in today's NFL:

1.) QB
2.) Pass rush
3.) WRs
4.) Other

Giants won with a clutch QB, pass rush (though the rush wasn't as hot tonight as it was through the playoffs), and a stud WR corps. Same goes for the Packers last year.

Titans need to focus on #2 and #3, IMO.

Exactly.
Titans had a terrific pass rush in 2008. If they could get another terrific pass rush I think the defense would be in the top 5 for producing turnovers.
I think Avery is underrated, Williams has stepped up, Washington is a deep threat.
With Locker as the starting QB he could help make any WR, or TE excellent.

Britt is the bigshot. Still need two or three other amazing as him.

Avery is kind of injury prone is his problem; however Damian Williams looks to have been getting better

I'll be surprised if Avery is resigned and on the roster in 2012. IMO, the Titans won't resign him. I don't know have a feel for what they're going to do with Lavelle Hawkins. He was much more productive last year, but he's a free agent, too. Only true WRs I'm certain will be back next year are:

Britt
Washington
Williams

I left out Mariani. He's not a threat at WR at all. The trio of Britt, Washington, and Williams is the strongest group the Titans have had in Nashville, by far. Hopefully D-Will can continue to develop. This will be his 3rd year which tends to be the breakout year for WRs. Kenny was playing like an All Pro before his injury and it was his 3rd year.

Kenny's breakout year was really his 2nd year, wouldn't you say? But, he's elite.

He was on a pretty similar path last year before his injury. This year he definitely looked better, but last year he was outstanding, too.

I can get behind that. He really started to figure it out in October of his second year. September was slow, but then he decided to dominate, it seems.

Had a chance runin with coach Fisher last week. He was an old neighbor in legends ridge, and his son at auburn watched my kids a couple of times. Good to see him back with his wife and family.

Fwiw, he mentioned Peyton heading a group looking to buy the Titans from Bud. I will say I heard this a year or so ago, but thought it was just rumor. This neck issue will determine what happens, imo.
