Not sure I can see it (honestly) happening; Bud's already got in place everything for his grandson to eventually inherit ownership of the team (I think he's about 27-28 at this point)

Mark Barron's draft stock takes a hit with double sports hernia:

@RookieDraft: Just heard some bad news on S Mark Barron- he has a double sports hernia & will be out until at least July/August #NFLDraft

Jim Wyatt tweets that the Titans have been in contact with the agent of FA CB Stanford Routt, formerly of the Raiders. Further strengthens my belief that Finnegan will not be back.

Lavelle Hawkins has been resigned. I'm good with that. He's a good option as #4 WR.

Titans sign Lavelle Hawkins to multi-year deal | ProFootballTalk

Britt is the Number 1 wr who in your opinion is the 2nd best and 3rd best wr for the Titans?
Williams got thrown to more, and showed how underrated he is after Britt got injured.
With Stability at QB Washington had a fantastic season.

Wes Welker, and Deion Branch are free agents.
If Branch does not resign with Pats I hope the Titans could sign him.

Branch? Uh no thanks.

With a healthy Britt our WRs are fine.

Nate (Who really earned my respect this year)
D-Will
Hawk

I like it. Don't love it, but am comfortable with that lineup.

Avery isn't resigned, IMO.

It is until they cut 2 of their starting DBs; then it's going to have to be CB or S

I disagree with you. Of course, a lot of this is to be determined by free agent signings, but the Titans DEs are easily the worst position group on the team. The secondary will look much different in 2012, but I think it's pretty clear that it's in better condition than the Titans DEs.

DEs:
Derrick Morgan
Dave Ball (FA)
William Hayes (FA)
Jason Jones (FA, better DT)
Malcolm Sheppard (DT/DE)

DBs:
McCourty
Verner
Campbell
C. Hawkins
R. Mouton
Ro Jo
Babs (FA-Probably resigned)
Finnegan (FA-Probably not resigned)
Griffin (FA-Definitely will not be resigned)
Hope (FA-Probably not resigned)

Neither is pretty, but at least McCourty and ATV are returning starters, Tommie Campbell looks like he'll be pretty good, and C. Hawkins played well at the end of the season. There is only one DE under contract that is a true DE, the other starting DE (Jones) is a better DT than he is an edge rusher, and Hayes and Ball are bit players at best. The DE position is really, really ugly. One guy returning that should return.

Bottom line is that the secondary and DEs must be addressed (with OLB/DT help, too)in the offseason, but DE is close to a crisis. I think Babs is resigned and returns, meaning they have really only have to replace one returning starter in the secondary (Griffin). Finnegan started, yes. But I think they'll be just fine with Vern and McCourty on the outside. Losing Finnegan will hurt, but ultimately he'll want too much money for the Titans. I'll be fine with him not returning.

I missed this, but Terry McCormick mentioned on Twitter that the Titans have begun negotiations to retain Jason Jones. Resign JJ, move him back to DT, and I give the move a huge thumbs up. JJ, Casey, Klug, and Marks could make DT position the Titans' deepest position group, and then they can focus on DE help. Think about how crazy their interior pass rush could be with Klug and JJ on 3rd down...

I want to resign JJ regardless of his position, but am lukewarm to him staying at DE. DT is JJ's best position, Jerry Gray. Move him back!

Was Jones playing DT in the 2010 season?

Was Jones playing DT in the 2010 season?

Yes. He was playing so well Peter King named him a mid-season All Pro at DT. He got dinged up and tailed off in the second half of the season, but he was better inside than out. JMO, of course. Maybe he'll figure the whole DE thing out if he's resigned and stays out there, though.

Wouldn't happen, but I'd like to see them draft a DE in the 1st and Janzen Jackson in the 2nd. With JJ's off the field issues, though, it's highly unlikely. And predicting individual draft picks is pointless, anyway, especially past the first couple of picks.

Why not take JJ in a later round? Do you really think he'll go in the 2nd?

These big name college players that have problems, or aren't expected to pan out in the NFL usually do wind up going surprisingly high, though. Like Tebow. I guess people that want them are just afraid someone will scoop them up first. But still, 2nd round?

You're probably right, Thrash. I'm only going off the information I read and I've some of JJ's draft ratings that have him as being rated in the top 5 FS talents in the draft. Conversely, some have him extremely low... So who knows. If he's really that high on a draft board, he could be worth a 2nd round pick. Problem is I don't know how he's valued by the people that count, and those folks are in NFL front offices.

All I know is that the Titans need help at S, he's in the draft, and has 1st round football talent. Again, I'm not predicting anything, just throwing a name out for conversation's sake.

If some of the yahoos on VN are to be trusted, he'll go in the late 12th round

IMO, if he's still available in the 4th or 5th, you've gotta take him, unless you just have another position that is in dire need of filling.

Don't know if anyone else heard this, but Rob Bironas was on 102.5 the other day in Nashville. It was a pretty good interview, but one part definitely stuck out: he claimed to have made four 75-yard field goals in a row at a practice facility in Reno, Nevada in 2003.

Do you guys think that's a legit claim, or was he just messing around with the hosts?

One of my buddies played with him at Auburn and said he had a ridiculous leg, so yes I believe it.
