The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

For the record, McVay's special teams coach I think is a former NFL head coach is attached to McVay's hip during games for "guidance/advice."

McVay is still learning on the job.

Jim Fassel was a HC, John Fassel, not so much

*other than being the interim for 3 games.

There's a certain coach with a foot fetish available....I woudlnt mind seeing him take the job. And we are built for his style of play.

But I think we are all in on Mariota and will hire an offensive minded guy to try and fix his performance from last year.

Still not sure if Mariota is a playoff caliber Quaterback Or if Henry will ever be a franchise halfback but that’s the least of our worries right now

Mariota is a little bit concerning to me. His lack of developmemt this year could be explained over his rehab hampering work put in this offseason, however his injuries and inconsistencies in his passing kind of throws up the red flag.

Honestly I’m worried adoree was a wasted pick . He got destroyed all year and is definitely not looking like a number one corner

There were a few DBs drafted after him that looked better

Hell, the future HOFer Cam Sutton was still available!

I’m actually a Sutton fan and believe he will be a shutdown corner . I would also bet u Sutton has a better career then Jackson . I believe when it comes to corners the best corners barely have any stats .

If Mariota has another year like this, he's got to go

Give me a break. Mariota and Henry should have 10 year deals. Along with Conklin and Lewan, those 4 guys are gonna be playing for the next 10 years. Titans would be idiots to let any of them play for another team in their careers.

Adoree will be a good DB. He had a very underrated rookie season. Dropped a few picks that would have been huge in terms of losses that would have been wins.

He’s going to be another solid piece for us. Never understood the Sutton hype as a pro prospect.

Lol you just like to argue. Neither Henry nor Mariota have proven themselves to be top players

It was more a jab at D4H's anointing of him. I think Sutton can be a good CB in the league

Mariota has proven he has the "it" factor. This is the only bad year he's had so far. Coincidentally it's the year the whole offense went backwards. Line was worse receivers were worse and the RBs were worse

Mariota was primed to become a top 10 QB in the league after his 2016 season. Then Mularkey and Robiskie’s no development offense really took hold.

Guy is one of the top 3 young QB’s in the league.

Disagree. There are very few under-25 QB's I'd rather have going forward than Mariota. He may have had a down season statistically, but he simply did not fit the offense that was forced on him. Hell, he just showed less than two weeks ago how much better he is when we go up-tempo, no-huddle, and let him get into a rhythm (and call his own plays, apparently). I'm not a fortune teller, but I'd be willing to bet this doubt cast on Mariota will look pretty foolish in a couple of years.

As for Henry, I think he's a good RB, but I still think we need a change of pace back to pair him with.

I tend to agree with this. It's about system fit. The Mularkey/Robiskie system does not fit MM and never has. The opposing DC's studied the system closer in the off-season after 2016 and made adjustments. The Titans did nothing to adjust in the off-season. They believed their own hype and thought the addition of a couple of receivers was all they needed other than D help.

JMO - there is a very solid core of players that need a new coaching staff to take advantage of their strengths. Robinson will draft to fit the system and sign the FA's they need. On O they need to upgrade the interior line and to sign a proven back-up OT. If a strong upside RB is available I would go for that as well. Which one of Henry or Murray they retain should be based on system. The other needs to go.

I thought A-Jackson did very well as a rookie. Agree on holding onto potential picks - he needs to get better at that. The pass rush sucked for the most part, which placed too much pressure on the coverage guys. The new DC can place his order for what he wants, but they need another top CB, pass rusher and LB IMO. The Williamson/Woodyard combo is mediocre IMO.

Really looking forward to see who they hire.

Wish the Bucs would have fired Koetter he frickin sucks

But at the same time I understand not wanting to pay another guy a bunch of money to not coach

I cant understand Henry yet. He was a good back out of college and I think he's got alot of potential for us. I agree we need to pair him up with someone. But for the love of God, there would be so many times that all he had to do was run outside and could have got more yards yet he would turn inside to where all the other defenders were for a 2 yrd gain. I cant decide if that's a coaching call or a Henry call.
