We have 2 average guys at the most important position on defense. That mixed with 2 of our 3 linemen being average (everyone but Casey) is a bad combination
Dont get me started on that. Im liking this Vrabel guy quite a lot.
It's hard to believe that both UT and the Titans made the right hires at basically the same time.
Both have been on the big stage and won the rings. Both have clear visions for how it should be done and have been in systems that consistently win at elite levels. Both know what kind of players it takes to get the job done and have natural leadership abilities to motivate them. Both are direct communicators and not fakers. Both were on the defensive side of the ball as players and coaches, who would rather hit you than talk to you. 24/7 football coaches. Now all both need are good staffs, hard work, and good fortune - which usually follows after all of the rest of that other stuff.
Titans did what they always do and hire on the cheap. There is a reason they always suck.
Not really. They went after the hot name in 2014 and succeeded, outbidding Detroit and some other team that escapes me for Ken Whisenhunt. The result was 5-27 over the next two seasons.
Sometimes you just gotta take a risk. I personally think Vrabel will be a fine coach, although being turned down by his first two coordinator choices is a less than ideal start.
Vrabel is definitely a players' coach. That will be good. It's also reported that Bill Callahan is rumored to be interviewing for an OC job. I would be ecstatic if that is the case. Horrible coach, but he sure could coach some great offenses.
We're interviewing Brian Callahan, not Bill. Brian has been Detroit's QB coach for the last couple of years and was in Denver before that. He would be a solid hire IMO.
