The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

Titans need fast and athletic linebackers that can tackle in space like the Jags. They are eating up these check down passes.

I wasn't to happy with the hire at first hearing about it. (Surprisingly several hours after it was announced) I wanted a more offensive minded coach like LeFleur. However I have to keep in mind the Vrabel has been one of the most talked about up & coming assistants that would be a future HC and I trust Jon Robinson.

Now it all depends on the Coordinators. I like that Day if it happens at least is familiar with Mariota and that Mariota should be familiar with what Day will likely do in Offense.

The question is what to do with LeBeau he appears to still have it but the facts are he would be 81 years old when the 2018 season starts at some point time starts catching up!

Yeah, I'm sure you just meant he would have had a better shot for success when you said:

and

Keep on dancing back there D4H.

None of the points you just posted showed one word where i said Leinart would have been an all pro or hall of famer. Nice try

This hiring is a great opportunity for the Titans org to chart a different path that will take them further than the one they have been traveling. Ground and pound worked in the 90's, not anymore. LeBeau's D schemes can still handle some O's, but the short passing/timing route schemes that do not allow the blitzers enough time to get to the QB will continue to be successful against his style. Will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Missed one game because the coaches were being cautious... Yep made of glass

Exactly. Plays hurt and gives it his all every time out. Getting a leg broken toward the end of the previous season is not exactly being made of glass. lol.

Per Paul K LeBeau is out. He also tweeted out that Darren Perry is being considered for the DC job he is the Packers current safeties coach. I'm starting to get concerned here: very inexperienced head coach hired, the name being linked for the OC job has never been an NFL coordinator, and the same goes for the DC position. I really don't like all this inexperience at the top.

I think your concerns are legitimate, all we can do is see what happens on the field.

I give J Rob props for being brave.

You realize this is the first season he has been able to finish in 3 years? And he was dealing with a hamstring most of the season, and was injured in the playoff game. He gets hurt a lot.

Ryan Day would be best thing for Mariota... Guy has plenty of folks vouching for him to get the OC job.

Also, do people honestly not remember how swiss our defense was the past two years. We got picked apart in games that were sure wins that turned out to be losses.

Good riddance of this entire staff.

So in a week the Titans....

Hire a HC with no experience

Fire a HOF DC

Are considering a DC and OC with no coordinator experience

JR better know what he's doing cause we're looking more like a FCS school than a NFL team.

Lebeau was way past his prime.

Lol...and I never said you said he’d be all pro or a HOFer.

But you did say his career would be “dramatically different” if he came here, then danced back to he would have had a better chance here. So right back at you....nice try.

Thank you.

I do wish to see some more proven coordinators, but I can’t believe so many have defended the previous staff.

Of course it would have. What was Arizona's offense based on, a pass heavy offense that slung the ball all over the place.

At the same time, what was Tennessee offense built on? A lot of under center, run heavy, ground and pound offense.

Now which one is set up best for a QB as a rookie to ease into? The only reason Vince Young had any success in Tennessee was because of this legs because he sure as hell couldn't pass. There's a reason why someone like Kerry Collins was able to be the QB of a 13 win team here. So yes, Leinart would have been set up to succeed here better than he was in Arizona because the QB position here didn't have to throw 300 yards and 4 touchdowns a game like Arizona had too.

The football acumen of some people on here is crazy.

Defense was not the team’s problem this year.

Dude, our pass defense was swiss cheese this year. We got picked a part is so many games that were wins and turned out to be losses.

While the offense wasn't anything to write home about, our defense was not good. Logan Ryan clearly stepped back and didn't duplicate his New England performance.

Our defense was very lackluster.

Yeah he said "hearing he's looking to hire Perry, maybe for DC." So maybe not at DC ?

But the concerns are legit if we just hire first year coaches I agree. We'll see.

Name one game where we lost because the defense got pushed up and down the field? Only one I can think of is the Houston game. Again defense was the least of the team’s worries.

I agree and as you said in the above post, I too thought we were swiss cheese defense in the secondary. We could stop the run pretty well but there was always one WR for the offense standing wide f__ open in the middle of the field waiting on the pass to get a first down. Many times it was a TE.

My point was while DL was passed his prime, hiring rookies in for the three most key coaching positions is stupid. Make sure at least one has some kind of experience. If they wanted an OC with no experience then either keep DL or hire someone that's done it before.
