The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

About time they moved on from Tannehill.. Not going to be a good year anyway. They tried to force it to Hopkins way too much.
Everything they they did on offense looked forced and difficult. There was no flow, nothing looked smooth.

I'm telling y'all I watched a second time and that o line was bad, like last year bad.

Henry had 18 touches. Vrabel should be fired for that
I agree with you about Henry not getting more touches in the 2nd half.

With that being said............Two huge plays were called that were wide open for either TDs, or big-chunk-plays, that RT just flat out missed. Perfect play calls at the perfect time. That's 100% on the QB.
IF RT completes those "easy" passes, we ain't having this discussion.

Exactly. And you can't miss layups in the NFL as a QB. He's making how much money and and can't make that throw?

Still can’t believe some people would be fine seeing Vrabel go.
I like Vrabel but the offense has been so stale the last few years. I dislike the in house promotion to the extent that the offense seem so damn vanilla......

But I saw some wrinkles Sunday I hadn't seen from us before so maybe it does change some this year.

I wish wonder about the DB's. Corner in particular. We have just struggled to cover receivers. Saw better overall play but some huge lapses Sunday again.

lol what? If anything he’s the guy most upset that the gm destroyed the offense by trading away Brown.
I don't doubt that. However, he refuses to hire anyone outside his coaching staff and it's only worked once so far. He couldn't handle working with lefluor. His only successful OC is the HC of the falcons. The last one should never have been hired and this current one has never been successful anywhere he's been an OC.

His OC(s) aren’t the issue here. You realize that, right? The problem is lack of talent

I've defended Tannehill for a long time. I can no longer after the last performance.

You have to hope that Game 1 was an anomaly and he will bounce back against the Chargers this week. If not, the boos will start coming and he will find himself on the bench before too long. We are going to need to figure out what we have in Malik and Levis at some point anyways.

what would the Jets give us for Tannehill (assuming they have some cap space)? Maybe a 3rd?
They wouldn’t trade for the last year of his contract. The Jets only have about $10 mil in cap space and Tannehill’s at least a $27-$36 mil cap hit at the moment.

The better question would be if you could convince the Jets to give up more for Malik Willis than they should.

I’d imagine we can work it to take x% of that cap hit and giving their win now approach and lack of options, I think we could get a decent price for one of two.

For Tannehill? No. You’d have to agree to pay almost all of that cap hit for them. The Jets only have $10,028,026 in cap space. Tannehill’s cap hit is currently $36,600,000. The Titans would have to agree to pay 73% of his salary at least for it to even work in the Jet’s cap structure, and it likely would need to be higher than 73% to account for the Jets not wanting to be stuck right against the cap afterwards.

That’s essentially throwing $26 mil or higher (likely higher) at another team for like maybe a 4th. Agreeing to pay 75-90% of a player’s salary just so they can fit on the other team’s roster isn’t going to shoot up the return value to a 2nd or 1st round pick.

As of right now we are paying 100% of it. So even if we pay 100% but get a draft pick, it’s a win right?

If he plays on our roster all year and we only win 6-7 games we paid 100%, received no draft pick, likely hurt the value of all our other draft picks, and had less time/snaps to develop our young guys (granted I know not everyone believes in baptism of QBs by fire).

But I would see a 3rd (with that cast I still think he’s the 12th-16th best QB in the league and worth it given their lack of other options) or 4th as a good move for both sides

They're in a better position with their backup than Willis.

Of course. How dumb of him to have more confidence in our run defense than our ability to pass the ball.

Even if the defense got the stop, the offense was still going to have to drive the field to hopefully get in field goal range. We would have had a better chance to win if we had just gone for it while we were already down there.

That was possibly the worst I’ve seen Tannehill look since he was a Titan, even more than the 4 int game of his against the Texans and the playoff game against the Bengals.

He completely overlooked one of our receivers on a wheel route the first drive, and of course he had the other misses and interceptions throughout the game. A lot of the talent surrounding him doesn’t make his job any easier, but he has to play better from here on out. I’m hoping some of it was rust since he really didn’t even play in the preseason minus handing the ball off a few times.
