The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

Tennessee (assuming Nashville) is one of five finalist for either the 2019 or 2020 NFL Draft the other being Vegas, Kansas City, Denver, and Cleveland. I really like our chances against KC, Denver, and Cleveland our biggest threat would have to be Vegas. We may have to do a meet up of Titan fans if Nashville wins it.

PFR has D-Murray probably being cut. His last two contract years are non-guaranteed and cutting him clears $6.75 MM against the cap. It said he dropped from 4.4 YPC to 3.6 last season. If they do it clearly indicates they are drafting a RB to fit the system in case Henry can't get it done.

Why not trade him?

I also read from a supposed insider (lol) that the blue will be a secondary color to the red.

I read the opposite, that the main color is going to be Columbia blue and red will be secondary, and the navy is being phased out. Which would be a complete 180 from 4 years ago when they said they were doing away with the Columbia blue.

Because you won't get much for him... You're essentially paying yourself 6+ to cut him... You won't get that return any other way.

His reduced production and age kills his trade value. They can get 3.6 YPC from about anybody they sign as a FA or draft in the first few rounds at a much lower cost. If you go ahead and guarantee the salary you would have to eat part of it in a trade since his value is less than his cost.

That would be a dream come true, and I agree about KC and Cleveland, but I feel like Denver has a pretty high chance as well.

In essence the whole offense stunk nuts this year. I agree and think he is getting some age on him and probably won’t be AS productive going forward, but it’s really hard to judge him on this last season because everybody regressed.

It really did stink. IMO, the reason was simple. The opponents knew what to expect after digesting the film thoroughly in the off season. Mularkey and Robiskie have a long history, so there was no reason to believe they would do things any differently than they ever have. This was especially proven after seeing the draft where they could see how the Titans tried to improve the roster. That clearly hurt Murray. But it didn't hurt Henry as bad on YPC because he was more of a breakaway threat.

Murray is the 8th highest paid RB in the league and they are not getting anywhere near that production while having a younger Henry needing more carries. They can feature him at at $1.4 MM average cost per year and probably get equal or better results. Of course we will never know what Murray might have done in the new O. I just think his age works against him at this point.

Ryan Succop locked up for 5 years/$20 MM. Now the 4th highest paid kicker. I like it. Once you get get a dependable kicker that goes deep with KO's - lock 'em up.
