The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

Vrabel is stuck in the Stone Age. Great players coach, but too stubborn on his philosophy.

And no one is considering *maybe* Vrabel wanted out.
And he seemed to have a problem with Ran. One of them had to go.

I also think Vrabel had a big hand in our drafts, which have been if not the worst, pretty close.

There is no home run hire. It will be retread, coordinator, or both.
Are there such things as home run hires in the NFL now days? All of these teams will be picking from the same candidate pool. When you become a HC your pretty well set on getting a job no matter how bad you are at it.

Who clamming he is a HOFer? He’s a good coach who is going to be snatched up quickly by another team. The issues of the last two seasons are not his but the front office’s who poorly mishandled the roster.
You may be right but let's not kid ourselves that Vrabel's hard headediness probably rubbed some folks the wrong way.

Yep...Fired here and hired over there. Fired there and hired over here. Rinse and repeat.

It's crazy to think just 2 short years ago we were playing in the AFC Championship game and Vrabel won COY. That went downhill in a hurry.

I do at least hope AAS and Ran know that Vrabel was well liked and they can't just bring a 49er's assistant Ran is friends with.

Amy Adams Strunk seems like an affable person (in contrast to her dad), but I don't think she operates with a plan. I think she goes day-to-day, season to season, and makes decisions based on what feels "right" in the moment. Keeping Mularkey then firing him after the playoff loss, the timing of the firing of J-Rob and supposedly giving more authority to Vrabel, then firing Vrabel a year later.

It is weird that Amy waited 36 hours.

I do think the Vrabel/Ran relationship was pretty bad, but I also have another theory.
Vrabel was loyal to his assistants, to a fault, I wonder if AA asked for staff changes and Vrabel refused.

Vrabel wanted out. Probably gave Amy an ultimatum on what he wanted and she said nah.
Sounds more like she gave an ultimatum on “you’re gone.”

Given family history and the general hubris/pride of owners, she probably wasn’t happy that a year after the whole “all the Eagles fans tauntingly thanking the owners box for foolishly trading them AJ Brown”+the late season meltdown last year, not only did the have a worse season, but she also got to experience “humiliated in a meltdown loss against the team from the previous city on the day the franchise was wearing supposed to be celebrating its history/ her father’s legacy by wearing their uniforms and colors”.

Doubtful here. This sounds like more of just unhappy owner syndrome.

100 mil in cap space, rookie QB, and a GM he knows well. Amy is easier to get along with than the Oakland owners, Washington, Atlanta, and Carolina are a mess. We might not get him, but it's not because we are a dumpster fire. We honestly are positioned the best.
Yes, the team is well positioned for a few year rebuild. But it’s a rebuild, not a reload.

Nothing about Amy tells me she doesn't want to win. She's actually very quick to dismiss people for not getting results.
I mean, to be fair, micromanaging was also her father’s problem while the franchise was in Houston (though to be fair, Bud used to be much worse…he used to require his direct sign off on anything costing more than $200).

Chargers are positioned the best as far as players are concerned. I hope that's where Vrabel goes
