The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

Okay, we haven’t upgraded our head coach position…..

Idk. Maybe, maybe not. Vrabel had only been a DC for one year when we hired him and that defense sucked. In fact, I recall being pretty underwhelmed when we hired Vrabel for that very reason. Maybe I am negatively biased towards him, but even during the good years I never bought into the takes that he was god's gift to coaching. I always felt (and still do to some degree) that he inherited a good roster and caught lightning in a bottle with Henry and a resurgent Tannehill.

But I guess my point in that particular post was more that regardless of one’s feelings on Vrabel, his staff left quite a bit to be desired.

I don’t think he is without blame or issues. He had LaFleur and Art and went to a drunk and Tim Kelly…. Not necessarily great.

But given our cap and draft position, going the route of hiring an OC in name only first time head coach who most likely got the job because of his last name is so on brand for Tennessee.

And why is that? Because we didn’t pursue him or he didn’t want anything to do with this dumpster fire organization?
We just fired a coach basically because he wanted too much power. Why would we hire someone else who wants power?? And why would Harbaugh want to come to a rebuild in Nashville, when he could move to LA and have a really solid roster.

A roster that they are going to have to blow up because they are so royally screwed with the cap thanks to Staley’s mismanagement. They are $35m over the cap and have to cut a lot of top players with bloated contracts to make space to add multiple players.

The Chargers are in one of the worst roster/cap situations of all the open jobs this offseason lol.

If they can get rid of K. Mack that will save almost 25 million, making the situation pretty manageable.

This is simply not true. They aren't cutting Mack away from being able to have space to have competitive cap situation. They have to cut more than Mack's contract to even be able to add to the roster. Chargers are in Cap Purgatory

The only real advantage the Chargers had over other jobs was Herbert at QB. But they are well over the cap and they have tons of aging stars on bad contracts that will make them have to blow it up.... There is no retooling or reloading with that franchise for the next 2 seasons. Its why Harbaugh got such a great salary there.

Because he was always looking for a big market preferably west coast job. It was common knowledge.
