I am so excited for this game. 😃

Baseball has really gotten to me. ⚾🍊 Seeing my first games in person this weekend is an experience I will always remember. I love our players, love our crowd, love the skill, the strategy, and the emotion! I love how much I have learned on this board and the friends I have made.

Let's take these guys down. It's a whole new season today! GBO! 🍊
Well, we have another one guys...
Soon you’ll be watching Hawaii state community tech vs California A&M poly state, at 2:00 in the morning on ESPN+, because we have a common opponent of a common opponent and the outcome will affect our RPI.
😂

Ahuna seems to be good in defense at short. He dropped one. But most time he is good. At bat though I don’t expect much. Was the big ten just garbage last year ?
Ahuna is a talent. His highlights are ridiculous. I think success on-the-field was relatively easy for him until he stepped into the SEC. Handling failure (attitude, body language, lockerroom persona, etc.) is a predictive metric for success and professional baseball is watching.

Just popping back in before I make the hour drive back to the game for some USM fan perspective here.

1. The NCAA and ESPN are terrible. Game should be moved up and to hell with tv viewers. It’s the right thing to do. I do however believe after 7:00 ct tonight the game will/could resume if it does get delayed.

2. Kudos to whatever the kids name y’all pitched yesterday. Sorry, bad with names and don’t feel like looking it up. We jumped on him some early, but the way he settled in and pitched was an amazing performance. Nothing but respect for that young player.

3. The bomb hit to the church was one of if not the farthest ball I’ve ever seen hit there. Me and the crew I sit around all said the same thing

4. As far as the fan throwing stuff and getting kicked out. I didn’t see any of that, but I’m sure it probably happened and have no reason to believe it didn’t. Unfortunately even our fan base has some fans that just plain suck and our POSs. The season ticket holders I sit around and myself all plan on sending a letter to our friends in the Athletic Department and requesting their season tickets be revoked and they be banned forever due to that behavior.

5. Today favors UT for sure. More arms left, etc. Baseball can be funny at times and we are a good team, but going to need a few breaks I feel.

6. No matter who wins, it sucks for anyone who has to face Skenes from LSU in Omaha. Guy is from another planet. But, back to bullet point 5…. Baseball is funny sometime and anyone is beatable.

7. Safe travels to those that made the trip. It’s the road fans that really mean a lot to programs so my respect goes out to those that travel for games.

Of course I hope we win, but if we don’t, then best of luck to UT in Omaha. No one likes LSU, but LSU.
Thanks for stopping by.
We'll glady man up and play LSU. The kids not Nolan Ryan.
When are you guys going to install visitors locker rooms? Unheard of for regional hosts.

The X factor for this game is SS. Let's face it we are outmanned at this position. If our guy can play error free, and our pitchers need to kinda pitch around their guy.......Dickerson I think???

Ahuna made 2-3 Ozzie Smith type plays yesterday that only a few in college could make. Yes, he can't hit a breaking ball, but his glove and arm are next level.

yes, it was gift from son, .a Rhodes grad and American lit guy who has been teaching at Wash U for more than 20years. He's a serious sports and music fanatic, as well

You’ve got an interesting and accomplished crew of kids. Is this the same one with a history at Ardent. I’ll track down the book.

Once the super regions dates and times are announced, that normally shows which teams play on day 1. You will not the supers that started Friday were all one side of bracket. Bracket "1" was bracket 1 because the #1 seed was in it.

Win and I have zero doubt we play on Saturday. And since that would be against LSU that would be the "primetime" game.

yeah, it's just listed differently than it normally is. they have all of the Fri-Sun supers listed in bracket 2, which is usually the Sat-Mon supers. Agree with Saturday being the first day for us

Uh-oh. This cant be good for us, can it???:cool::cool:

INDIANAPOLIS — A 'Manifest Injustice' rule has been announced by the NCAA Baseball governing body. The rule will apply ONLY to this year's Super Regional round, and ONLY to games played June 12, 2023 through June 15, 2023.

Under the rule, if, in the sole discretion of the NCAA rules committee, a team hosting a Super Regional has been unduly prejudiced by weather delays, acts of God, or extraordinary play by the visiting team, then the series may be expanded to 5 games, during which the host team will advance to the College World Series if it manages two victories within the 5 game stretch.

NCAA Rules Chairman R. J. Hattiesburg McSouthernMiss, IV gave the following statement: "Look, we reviewed some of the series that have been played, and it is obvious that the visiting team in one particular instance, which I will not name, has been unduly aided by weather, etc. For example, there is solid evidence to support the fact that remaining in contact with reinforced concrete with an aluminum conductive layer within 5 feet generates incredible physical advantages in the human body. We feel that evening out that advantage is the ONLY way to prevent a Manifest Injustice in a given series."

"And I am please to announce that we have applied this rule to the Southern Mississippi - Tennessee series, and look forward to its successful utilization."

McSouthernMiss dismissed charges of bias, stating that the rule was unanimously approved by the entire rules committee, which includes representatives from SEC programs Arkansas, LSU, and Alabama. "I mean, if anyone has a soft spot for Tennessee and Tony V., it's anyone associated with the Arkansas program!" McSouthernMiss proudly boasted.

a sincere thanks
he's only child, but has three wild little ones, a shrink for a wife, and they are joining us starting Saturday for a week at beach house iin Fort Morgan, where we gather every summer. Wouldnt be surprised that a Stax and Merge tees are part of his wardrobe. He is NOT ALLOWED TO bring his crimson tide flag

Honestly it’s something I never thought of and would love to see it. Pete Taylor park has a lot of charm because it’s unique, but certainly outdated in some areas. I have no clue if accurate, but a couple of our former players say many of the older parks don’t have visitors locker rooms. It’s really something I guess that wouldn’t show its problem until a super regional. I do know that the basketball arena was offered is very close and I guess in a pinch would work. Not ideal though. With all that said I highly doubt we are the first team to host a regional and not have a baseball visitor locker room. Even in recent years.

We have hosted regionals and a super before. Really never seen it addressed until this one. Supposedly we have some nice plans for facility upgrades and I would like to see that added if already not.

Should be false advertising in my opinion but regardless,

Got a cooling towel for my neck (only pink available). Yes, it’s day three and I needed it the last few days, but rather late than never I guess!

And yea, I really do need it. so I’m not looking silly on tv again with a USM towel draped over my head…

😂

So I will be honest until a couple of years ago I did not keep up with college baseball at all. This team is exciting and continues to be so.

And you can call me a band wagon baseball fan if you will - but keep in mind I have been a Tennessee fan in other sports, football and basketball for a very long time ... like since I was a child. So don't call me a band wagon Vol fan because that is not true. lol

Classy Analysis.....because of its honesty and straight forwardness. Who knows about the game but Tennessee does have an edge, but #5 will always come into play. I still feel that the Pitching edge belongs to UT but that can change with a strong outing by a pitcher. Right now it is mental. Not a lot either team can do about the other variables going into this game.

Speaking of Vols you didn’t want to get mad and switching to football for a minute…..watched a great video on Hacksaw Reynolds last night 😂😂😂😂😂. This was before my time. Wished I would have been a fan then….

watched him from endzone or section R on most Saturdays

We are going to see a lot of pitching changes tonight. Everyone will be on a short leash.

The first inning is again the key for our starters.

I would like to see Maui keep his head on the bat on his first swing. His talented head has been swinging around harder than his bat.

I know Blake's first HR in a while would be inside and about 3" off the ground. That's his wheel house. I don't think he's done.

In game 1, I was surprised in the 9th that coaches didn't PH for Christian Scott and especially Cal Stark. I know Cal got HBP but I would have felt better with another bat. Even lefties. It was similar situation as Clemson and we saw what PH did there. And I don't think we even pinch ran for Stark once he did get on! That was odd.

it's a wonderful game, fell in love with it at age 8

He has one pitch he cannot hit. Swings at it every time and misses and other teams have figured it out. Defensively you will not find a better short stop and would not change him. He needs to show bunt a couple of times to keep opposing pitchers guessing.

Beautiful weather in Hattiesburg right now at noon ET. But NCAA and ESPN say we have to wait for bad weather.

Looks like the team will be spending a lot of time sitting under the bleachers again.
Not a pleasant thought or fair way to decide who advances.

We don’t judge, here in the baseball forum.
