The Official Zone Severe Weather Thread

Whew, the roads must be nightmares in situations like this…

Duke Energy says most of the SC outages should be over by tomorrow, and for WNC by this coming Friday. Exceptions: those areas that were pretty much destroyed and areas way the heck up in the mountains that trucks can’t yet reach. So we’ll probably see the utility trucks rolling down I-26 toward your area soon.

But you can’t have our water pipe guys! Not quite yet, anyway

Trying to convince the grandparents to come up to our house. Not liking most of the models for them.

My mom, who is north of Tampa, is currently planning to head towards Orlando and ride it out in a friend's house. I tried to get her to go to the panhandle but failed (so far).
Told my daughter to go to Georgia, but they're gonna stay, unless they lose power. It's supposed to still be bad going through orlando

I agree, although Hubs won’t. This is the first time we’ve gone without power for much over 12 hours, when we just didn’t open the fridge and freezer doors. An installed generator falls into the category of “Let the next owner do that.” 🤪
My spouse is hesitant to spend the money as well. I point out that she wants to work for 4+ more years, enough time amortized the expense. She points out that I want to move to higher altitude, she wants to be day trip distance from the daughter and grands, and we should relocate in ~5 years or sooner. Now, my preferred target area is a disaster. The alternative, Greater Blacksburg is farther from Greenville than we are, now… [sigh]

Well, at least it appears that HCA is trying to get rid out of Mission Hospital, with lawsuits against them by various towns and counties throughout the region, so perhaps our healthcare system will start returning to providing quality care and displaying a conscience and all.

Is there an organization you would prefer take over HCA facilities in WNC?

It's amazing at how many different models there are for tracking
It's changed alot from when I first moved here. They showed the consensus center model at 24 hours ago, 12 hours and now. I've never seen that before. Not saying it's new, just I've never seen it before. That's the one that showed it moving South.

It's interesting.
