Lia Thomas was born a biological male, and went by another name (I assume William).

She now identifies as a transgender female. She is not a biological female, and I do not believe she belongs in a pool vs biological females.

But I will respect her choice of name and pronouns. Her going by Lia hurts no one.

I view it a little differently. I will call these individuals the pronouns based on science and their biology. Expecting me to follow their views that are not grounded in reality is disrespecting me and my beliefs. They can go on their merry way but not require me to step into their alternate world.

Eh, I disagree a bit. Intersex is someone in-between female and male. It's not what I'd call 'easy'. They're basically on the outside looking in by zero fault of their own.

To play devil's advocate here, lots of people are prevented from doing things due to no fault of their own. A little person probably won't play professional basketball. A double amputee probably won't compete in the 100 yard dash. A blind person probably won't be a professional gamer.

Is it up to the Olympics to let a woman get her face bashed in, or is it up to parents of people with disadvantages to be real with their kids about what life will be like, and encourage them toward other things?

I mean, you kind of have to ask... If a person is between sexes, why do they choose women to fight when they could have chosen dudes?

But Europe has much different attitude toward sex (legal consent or not) and punishment for crime.

I'm not outraged like many here. But this situation does bring some problems to the forefront that deserve careful consideration and deliberation...... obviously not by us.

I'm sure the Olympic committee has done this and continues to do this.

As the father of a daughter this topic, fairness in women's sports and the push by transgender to compete with females, hits home for me.
