The Rap/Hip-Hop thread

Any of you heard any of Big Boi's new stuff? Pretty sick, as of now he's my favorite, I can't stop listening to his music.

Kendrick's verse has got everybodies attention, calling everyone out. I personally like it, reminds me of the good days of rap, before everyone was partying and making club tracks together.

BoB's response was nice, as was Lupe's. only responses I've listened to so far.

I'm sorry but I think the call out verse in today's rap is, in and of itself, stupid but that verse alone is pretty tame.

I think way too much was made of Kendrick's Control verse. Before I even heard the verse, I was expecting a whole lot more than what was actually delivered.

I think all of Eminem's Berzerk was a much better jab at people. He even says "You aren't smart enough to get that I'm talking about you."

I know I'm in the minority here but I'm actually excited about Drakes new album

You're a brave man in this thread. I like Drake OK for a few songs. I have noticed that he seems to be loved by a lot of celebrities and widely hated on VN.

Two things I respect about Drake.

He cornered the market for about 4 years on the whole "I love women and feel bad for them and I get dumped and feel bad" rap genre. Take Care was amazing to people who just got broken up with or had a bad relationship.

but most importantly, I feel like he's gotten better one each album he's done. If he keeps getting better, then yes, eventually he'll be good. I like some of his songs now, but not many, thought Marvin's Room was by far his best and most personal. If he can make an album filled with Marvin's Room quality, I'll gladly respect him.
