The Return Of Chris Jericho

do you think Orton has control of his character, or is he a heel right now because that's what Vince wants? His mike presence was a little bit better and far less contrived when he was a "good guy", especially when he broke from Evolution.

Orton's a pure heel. He's just not very articulate. Any dope can be a face, it takes actual skill to be a good heel. To quote what Piper once told Hogan, "The only reason they love you so much is because they hate me so much" A good villan is worth ten times more than a crowd favorite.

That goes for every thing!

Agreed. A good villain will almost always turn into a face though.

True, but guys like Austin and Michaels were able to make that transition and stay true to their character. They didn't change, the fans did.

i feel like HHH perfected the face/heel turn, and Jericho is another classic example of it as well.

I don't know why I thought of this while reading the thread, but does any one remember the Montreal Screwjob?

The beginning he was hated. They tried to pull him off as a face and he got booed. Then, the Nation of Domination came and the Rock took off

well yeah. His first couple of acts were bad and it made it easy to not like him. But once he took off, they still tried to make him a bad guy and the fans still liked him.

Some just have it. HHH, The Rock, Stone Cold, HBK all could play either role and play it well.

true... but HHH can make himself the most hated man in the business to every single fan. And because of that, HHH is the best heel i've ever seen. Rock, Stone Cold and HBK couldn't tick off the fans that much. Flair couldn't either.

Oh Flair could in his heyday I think. Agree to disagree.

But HHH is right up there with him.

Flair back in the day could REALLY get crowds fired up. He'd have guys trying to climb over after he blew kisses at their girlfriends/wives telling them to be with a real man. Flair worked crowds over the original way....on the way to the ring and around the ring.

Flair was close, but there were always those that loved him even more for those actions. He was very close.

Eddie Gilbert and Shane Douglas could both incite a crowd with the best of them. Flair was the best, though. When he would wrestle one of the Von Erichs in Texas or Dusty Rhodes in Florida, every fan in the arena wanted him dead. HHH has that same type of aura.

Kurt Angle was an excellent heel as well.

the best of the best could literally be a face one night and turn heel the next.
