The Runner's thread

I played 18 hours of full court ball this weekend. I wish I was wearing a device to show how much running was involved.

3 miles on the treadmill. The hotel exercise room was hot as blazes.

Well, I get to post somethng in the runners thread. I missed going to crossfit today, so I'm going to go for a run. I don't know how far yet, I'm just going to run around my neighborhood for a while, then measure it and see how far I went. I'm going to guess I'll go around 3 miles or so. We'll see!

Getting over flu. Interesting to see what that first day back will look like.

My first outdoor run of the winter - a little over 6 miles (personal longest). The hills and the cold slowed me down, but I had an amazing high when I was finished. Everything but my face was fine -- UA Coldgear shirt and tights, Addidas skullcap and gloves. What exactly are "running gloves?"

Thin, wicking gloves. Basically anything that will move sweat away from your hands.

I run much better in the cold.

Running gloves are sold at all the decent shoe shops and come in a first layer that's a wicking layer and a second that is a heavier, windproof layer. I go for the prior only.

Thoughts on lifting legs while distance training?

Only ran one marathon and didn't mess with it. Was in college and we weren't very technical about it. Key to me was doing at least one run where the wall comes into play so you understand that it's real and that going out too fast will kill you.

I'm working my way up. I'm not much of a runner, but since I started crossfit, my endurance is getting better and better. So who knows, my goal right now is a half marathon.

I've got 2 busy weekends ahead of me and then I'm gonna schedule another round of shots in my heels. Feet are better but not where they need to be. I'll be doing alot of swimming and riding the stationary bike fpor the next month or so. I'm still gonna try to get in at least 1 sprint tri this summer.

When I went to the dr back in mid Dec he said I had heel spurs, plantar fasciitis, and bursitis in both feet. Things have been much better since the first round of shots. Nowhere near as much "daily" pain but they still start to bother me towards the end of most days. I'm hoping another round of shots will do the trick.

anyone use motion control shoes? I use NewBalances MR1012. they are heavy but I have zero discomfort afterwards. heaviest shoes i've ever worn.

I have been looking at some Broooks on line. I would rather try them on before I buy them. The closest store that carries them is almost an hr away. Just haven't made the time to drive out there. Did you order your NB on line?
