The Runner's thread

I don't know. I run solo. Never noticed them being any louder. Its almost impossible to run flat footed in them. They force you to land on your mid-foot. Was he a big guy who is naturally a heavy runner?

A slightly overweight, short woman. It sounded like someone smacking 2x4's together.

I'm a little disappointed. 2 and a half hours finish time. I finished though thank goodness

Good advice. My 8 mile run about killed me but I didn't have any fluids during the run

Wow, I can't imagine that. When I do go out running I always run with my CamelPack and a 2 lt MSR Dromedary. As for shoes I mainly use my Inov8 trail runners but I also use my La Sportivas approach shoes for bolder ascents.

I try not to exercise on asphalt either unless I really have to. If I can trail run I will but often times I just go out, running rogue, exploring different areas. If I am exercising near home this usually leads to me running into a fence. When I exercise at a National Park or Forest, though, the area turns into my playground. I sometimes pop on my approach shoes and scurry up to a manageable peak. This style keeps me more conscientious of my movements and Ive noticed my ankle strength has improved quite a lot since taking it up. But entirely different from how I used to run. I used to run competitively but I find no appeal in that anymore.

Nice. I've done that a few times but I can't free myself enough to do it all the time. Too afraid of not getting my mileage in.

Not bad Lyls. Good job. How do you feel?

Thanks bud. I actually feel great at the moment. I kept a good pace for me during the run. I'm getting sore though so we will see how I feel in the morning.

And Kirby I. Will start taking fluids with me, for sure. That is what got me through the race today

Suggestion to anyone who is running a half marathon and didn't get to train properly...stock up on Aleve for the day after.

I'm pumped about getting back out and running. My heels are still a little tender from the shots. I was probably on my feet more than I should ahve been this weekend. I'm thinking I might squeeze in a mile run tomorrow afternoon and see how it goes from there.:crossfingers:

If you've got $50-60, find a cute massage therapist and get a massage. That's always a nice reward.

A good massage goes a long way after a run. I am planning on two more deep tissue massages before the Knox marathon in April. If you have never had a deep tissue masssage they do hurt a little, but a few days afterward you will feel great. Keep up the good work.

I walked about .2 miles, ran 1.3 miles, then walked the .2 miles back to the house with a good stretch before and after. A little soreness form lack of running but no pain!!!:dance2: I'm gonna do the same thing again Sat. I don't want to jump back in too fast.

Great jhen. 3.5 miles on the treadmill last night.

Thanks Tri. I Had to settle for the treadmill yesterday. walked .25 miles, ran 1.25 miles at 6.3 mph, then walked .25 miles with a 1% incline. I think I'm gonna stick to similar distances for a while.

What kind of pace do you run at Tri?

on the trails usually 9 min/mile. I'm a lazy runner. This year I've committed to getting faster. Ran 3+ miles on treadmill the other day at 7:30 pace. I'd like to be to run a 10k at an 8 min pace by the end of the year. We'll see if it happens.

My fstest 5k was at about a 7:30 pace(23min28sec). Mainly because I was in a pack that kept that helped push me. I can't keep that pace by myself. I was running a 5k through the neighborhood in just under 25 min most of the time back in the summer of 09. If I'm ready for the Cheerios 10k in april my goal is anything under an hr. I got a long way to go though. I'll probably start adding .25 miles to my run every other week or so as long as my feet will let me.

My fastest 5k is 25:30, I think in a cross country race. Fastest 10k is just over hour in a trail race. I've changed my running style and I'm about 5 lbs lighter now and will probably drop another 5 in the spring. Curious to see how that improves my times.

That's a good question. I sometimes see a police officer walking/sloooooooow jogging in a weighted vest when I go ride my bike on the trail. I wonder if running in one would help you or cause you to have back pain or un-needed strain on your body?
