The Runner's thread

I just don't see the point to wearing anything other than shorts, because it doesn't affect my cold weather comfort. I can be out in 20 degree weather and wearing shorts is just as comfortable as wearing pants. It's my upper body that gets uncomfortable in the cold. It may affect my performance, but I don't see myself running in tights unless I start trying to run in <20 degree temps. Even then, I would wear shorts over them.

I do need something cold weather for my upper body.

10.4 miles through the sometimes muddy, sometimes still snow covered, sometimes hilly and sometimes icy trails here in Lynchburg, VA's Blackwater Creek Trails. Was encased by mountains so the wind was of little factor. 1:34:48. Not bad, not great, but I just felt like going and going!

If you're still here Saturday there is a great 5k/10k trail race 45 minutes west in Roanoke. $25/30 and they still have long sleeve technical race shirts available when you register.

Sounds awesome, but the plan right now is to be back at Bragg Friday evening. If I'm still here I'll look into it though.

Hello everyone. This thread is great. There is a lot of good information and it helps keep me motivated. You guys post some really good runs. I am kind of a newbie, but really enjoy running.

Today I did 4.25 in 37:42 with a PR 5k of 27.00.

Go vols.

a newb running nine minute miles is pretty gosh darn good. I averaged just over that in my 10 miler yesterday.

Looks like my job is going to get in the way of running for a few days. I hope this doesn't last long because I have a really good pace going to reach my 500 miles for the year. I'm a little over 105 for the year now.

After the day I had today... The thought crossed my mind. If I could get paid for running all day... I would do that.

When can you start?

I'm in the same boat of "work getting in the way of running." but today somehow got in a mile at night after a ten hour shift. Got signed up for a 5k next month (for free, woohoo) so I have something to look forward to at least.

I swear treadmills are evil though. Either that or I've somehow slowed down nearly three miles on my mile average in two months of more running.

Ran maybe a mile yesterday but I conquered the biggest hill on the run. Usually I just walk it. There is no shortage of hills in Knoxville but that will make me better.

Saturday going to be 60. Prime running weather. About two weeks until the Nashville Preds 5K. Looking to do under 30.

Finishing up my rest week. Excited. Gonna go run with thrasher423 on Saturday. Ive never run with another person before. I just hope I don't slow him up.

4 miles after work tonight. Run felt great. Killed some of the hills in the run too.

Splits were 7:46, 7:49, 7:39 and 7:37. Tonight was one of those runs that reminds me why I enjoy it so much. Felt good through the whole run and like a champ afterwards.
