The Runner's thread

2.36 in 19:26. The winds off the beach were brutal. I swear I had a head wind going out and coming back in.
 
Five miles this morning. Splits went 8:33, 8:22, 8:18, 8:07 and 7:30. I love it when I have have splits like this and finish a run strongly.
 
School started. I've been averaging one run a week. No bueno if I'm going to attempt a 20 mile trail race in less than a month.
 
Didn't want to run Saturday. Wanted to watch football and drink beer all afternoon. So what did I do? Go run 2.5 miles up a mountain that I'd never run before. Cursed my stupid brain for such a stupid idea all the way up the stupid mountain. Got to the top and laid on a log. I let the sun warm me and the steady wind rush by. Watched the light filter through the swaying trees while the clouds drifted by. Closed my eyes, let my heartbeat still and my breath abate while I listened to everything and nothing all at the same time relishing the fact that I was the only person on top of that mountain in the middle of the forest. Then I thanked my stupid brain for such a tremendously great idea. Happy running everyone.

Man that's the stuff right there. I don't run a lot out of city but when I do it's so much better. Keep it up.
 
I decided to hit the streets again with the fall in temperature. I swam a lot this summer and did a little work on the treadmill. 4 miles and change this evening at 8:15 pace. It was good to get out.
 
3.5 miles this morning. 8 sets of suicides this evening. Really going to put an emphasis on speed/interval training to get my speed up. Might even try a 100 mile October. Since at best my A's are going to lose the Wild card play in game, my October will only be busy for 4 hours each Saturday, so I should have the free time.

On another note, did Nerd quit running?

Not sure if he quit running but he has been dealing with his father being sick. It wasn't looking good for a little while but things seem to be turning for the better.
 
Well, been running long distances (6 miles or more) 3 days a week and playing basketball 3 days a week. Feeling pretty good
