The Runner's thread

Oh thanks.

Yeah I am definitely going to pick up some Asics or something. New Balances suck currently running in Nikes.

I only stretch before if I feel tight. Stretching afterwards is good for recovery.

New Balance makes some good shoes, but it's all about getting the right shoes for your feet. Go to a specialty running store and get fit. I usually buy Asics Kayanos, but I like my NBs as well.

Yeah, it's probably cause I didn't buy like NB running shoes.

Going for my run now, gonna try to go further today.

I've yet to find a pair of New Balances that feel comfortable. I'm purely a minimalist guy and I keep thinking NB will eventually make a pair I like. Newtons, Brooks, and Mizunosome are my preferred brands at the moment

I can't wear NB because I have a narrow heel and I always seem to walk out of them. They cause me to get some pretty bad blisters on my heels.

Had a nice run this morning. Went further than I did last session. My goal for now is 3 miles without resting. Will probably take me about a month and a half.

Did two miles today and then starting having pain on the top of my right foot. Going to get it looked at Friday. Very painful to walk and run on.

Third session today ran close to a mile. Pretty hot too. Little bit sore and had a back cramp and stopped and stretched. I know I am nowhere close to you guys but I will be in 2-3 weeks. I get on and read this thread for motivation.

No need to compete / compare, unless its just with yourself. You are doing just fine.

I've had knee issues in the past and I'm just glad I am able to run without pain again... I'm going to train for some long races but I could not care any less about how I finish or what my time is.

We aren't here to compete. We are here for support and to help each other get better. You are out there running and that's more than some people can.

Not to take away the importance of this post, but I ran an eight minute flat mile last night. Fastest since my return to running a month ago

3 miles in 22' 30" and my best time by one minute. Shame I'll probably find out this week that I need surgery again.

Anyone know good places to run in or near the downtown Knoxville area? I just moved here yesterday for school and am looking to get back into running after a three week hiatus. I'll need at least a 4-5 mile loop to start.

Ran a good length today. Felt good. I was out of breath on the first leg(took the weekend off), but kind of felt better as I went. I found a stopwatch today so on my next run I will be able to time it at least. (I don't currently have a phone so an app is nil)
