The Runner's thread

I've increased the speed on the treadmill to 7.2 and burn 200 to 205 calories.
Soon I'll be running at 7.6 then 8.0 I've never ran at 8.0 so no doubt that will be a large challenge.

3 more last night. 19 miles to go to reach my 600 for the year. If I hadn't slacked off so bad in October I would already be there.

Should be fairly easy. Congrats Smokey.

5 miles after eating cake in some rather windy conditions. I never claimed to be smart. 44:16.

Adidas does have pro springblade shoes. The blades go from back to near front. No doubt it aids the person to run faster with their entire foot.

Drank a lot of water and a 20 oz coke shortly before running on the treadmill today. Maybe thats why it was easy to run today.

Got four in on the 23rd and 6 in on the 26th. Down to the last three miles. If the rain holds off this evening after work I will complete my goal.

3 miles yesterday, too nasty to run today plus my niece and nephew consumed all my time haha.

1000 miles was my goal last year, fell behind, then the most manly of injuries. However, I now have motivation to push for it again this year:

That's awesome that you found something to motivate you. I'm not sure I could run 1000 miles in a year. Good luck bill and here's to staying healthy next year.

3.2 last night. Puts me over my goal of 600 for the year. Glad that I was able to stay healthy all year long to reach my goal. Now to rest for a few days and start 2016 fresh and with a new goal. I haven't decided what my goal will be for next year.

Congrats Smokey, a great accomplishment

4 miles tonight and I struggled. Too much holiday binging!

Thanks bill.

Having a hard time deciding what my goal for next year is. I want something that is going to push me but I don't want it so far that I can't obtain it.

I would probably look to add no more than an average of 5 miles per week if I were you. I want to do the 1,000 challenge, but at the same time, I lost all my speed with my injury and I'm not certain running a lot will help in that matter. I need to focus on more individual drills for speed with fewer long runs.

If I add 5 miles per week that would be 260 miles so that would be 860 for the year. I am not sure that I would be able to reach that. Right now I am going back and forth between 25 and 50 miles added to the 600

i got ya. It's basically adding one extra run a week. All depends on how you do it. I've been going back and forth on a specific schedule. If I do a light 3 miler on Monday, 2 mile speedwork Tuesday, 5 mile tempo run Wednesday, 2-3 mile light run on Friday and my long runs on Saturdays, I could average 20 a week and get the 1,000. And depending on the "long run" distance, I could take Wednesday off, do a light run Thursday, take off Friday and long run Saturday. So, basically, it's all in how you plan it.

My schedule for running has been the same since I started training for the half marathon a few years ago. I run 3-4 Monday, Tuesday off, Wednesday 3-4, Thursday is a longer run 4-5 miles and then Saturday is 5 plus. Of course I don't always stick to the distances but I try to stick to the days of the week that I run because it seems to work out for me.
